Get an authenticator for my Android phone without using Google?

I have a new work phone that will not allow anything with Google associated. Is there a way to download the Battle.net authenticator without using a Google app? I have a smart phone that works with a number of apps, but it has Google locked out.

Short answer, no.

Long answer, It is impossible. You’ll need a Google account that can be used with Google Play in order to download the Battle.net app. And can only download from Google Play app for the authenticator too for android divices.

It depends on how locked down the phone is. If you have access to the phone settings. And the phone allows you to change the setting install unknown apps. Then you can just get the install file and install it without using the Play store.

You can also use an old phone for your battlenet authenticator or buy a super cheap and old phone with no service off Amazon or something(probably run you <50 USD tops). Not sure exactly what the OS cutoff point is, probably Android 8+(correction: Android 5.0 and up, just checked on my phone), but you can probably safely assume any phone from within the past five years will work.

This supports another useful goal: keep everything personal off a work device, keep everything work off a personal device.

If your employer is one of those brain-damaged cheap “bring your own device” types, my deepest sympathies.

Requires Android
5.0 and up

But I would definitely buy something newer than that if you’re going that route, as the requirements could increase to something more modern.

For sure, even android 8 is over seven years old now. But anyways, it’s the best recommendation I have for the OP.

And to the OP: Again, no actual phone service is needed, just wifi to sync the authenticator code cycle or to click approve.
