Genuine Appreciation

Hi, Blizz! I just wanted to say thank you! Not sarcastically! And I hope it brightens your day!

I’ve been playing Warcraft from Orcs vs Humans through Warcraft III. I’ve played WoW since Vanilla Beta, met my husband on WoW in BC, and have been present for at least some part of every expansion except WoD. Originally, it was the world of Azeroth I fell in love with and the stories of all of the characters in it that kept me hooked year after year. As those years rolled on though, all of the characters I loved have been killed, disgraced, or deconstructed to be exactly the opposite of everything that originally drew me to them.

After Shadowlands, I genuinely had no interest in returning to this game ever again. When a gaming dry spell led my husband to drag me back a month or two ago, I did not expect to enjoy it. What has continually shocked and amazed me, however, is just how good the game’s systems and QoL changes have been.

The hardest hitting one was the Follower Dungeons. It is so incredible to me, as someone who prefers to Tank > Heal > DPS (if I have to… :sob:), that I can now learn a dungeon by watching what the AI does. The Adventure Guide was a great first step in that direction of making learning the ins and outs of any given fight more seamless. There are, and probably always will be, visuals to mechanics that can’t really be described in text. You just have to see it in action for yourself. You can always watch all of the countless video guides to each and every boss, but that takes so much time away from actually playing and enjoying the new content as it arrives.

I adore Skyriding. I have so much fun zipping from place to place, trying to work out how to maximize my vigor for the fastest speeds, and even laughing at myself or my husband when we just miss a landing cause we ran out of steam. (I died falling off of the tallest mountain in the Dragon Isles while we were trying to take a screen cap of us at the flag on the pinnacle. XD) The races were also just a fantastic, fun challenge that didn’t feel like a stressful competition of any kind. Most of all, I’m so glad you chose to allow us to change our flight mode at any time without going back to town to speak to an NPC. I can’t imagine farming any resource with the vigor drain of constantly stopping and starting again.

And the Warbands. Ye gods, I have been farming for the Skimpy Demonleather Tunic from Trilliax in Nighthold and the Quicksand Waders from Buru the Gorger in the Ruins of Ahn’Qiraj for YEARS. They have dropped so, so many times for characters that could not learn the transmogs, but never for the characters that could! Last night on my second run with a Paladin… I stole Trilliax’s pants! May I never have to hear them scream, “FILTHY, FILTHY, FILTHY!” ever again. XD I’m fairly sure the Quicksand Waders can’t be far behind.

Anyway, I’ll leave you here with that, and the hopes that others chime in with their positive experiences. Thank you all. Seriously. I haven’t been this excited to play the game in a long time.

Beautiful post, you’re an asset to the community.

I’ll chime in as well, wow has always been there for me as a safe haven of sorts. It served as an amazing world to escape in through out my life. I love the lore, the characters, the sense of accomplishment and pride even if it’s only unto myself. It’s great to be social when I feel the urge and so far the feedback has always been positive in my experience. I’ve been off and on since vanilla and it’s been a joy be along for the growth and development through the years.

I had to add this today. I started working on my addons again, and inevitably typed “relativeTo” instead of “relativePoint”. I received the following error, which made me laugh out loud.

Unknown: has relativeTo AND relativeKey (bad dog, no biscuit!)

At least your programmers have a sense of humor. <3
