If your 25 man raid has two holy paladins who happen to have a unused offspec talent tree, you could have then spec into 13 holy 43 prot 15 ret where they would get flash of light crits more and higher than any pure holy spec. (they would also have more health and ardent defender as a side efffect).
The cheese would be to have them spec 2/2 spiritual attunement and use the glyphs for 2% more spiritual attunement, 5% crit to flash of light, and 5% reduced mana cost of spells with wisdom (or the one for 5% more healing if this works well).
Now…they spread 20 yards from each other, they beacon each other, and then they just let the shadow crashes hit them while they spam flash of light on the tank. (use the 4k honor pvp flash of light libram for 300 more healing).
The math works out that they will spend a bit less than 300 mana casting flash of light and they will get back over 700 mana from spiritual attunement from the other paladin’s beacon.
They will spend the whole fight constant healing and a full mana bar. LOL
You might even be able to 2 heal 25 man like this.
That would be a cheese if you could get 12 more talent points to be able to pick up 2/2 spiritual attunement and beacon of light. you only have 71 talent points, not 83.
And your tank is dead on the first crash because you were flung 100 yards away from him… Oh and he hits for like 20-30k so those little 2k flashes aren’t gonna do much
Incase you were unaware, if you put too many points down the prot tree, the boss will recognize you as being prot spec and will give you a debuff, reducing all healing done by 75%.
It’s actually the same amount of crits between this proposed spec and a traditional Vezax spec.
The spec you listed does not have enough points in the Holy tree to get Beacon of Light.
I don’t think two HPals spamming FoL is enough healing to keep up both the tank and the rest of the raid during the Saronite monster portion.
My strategy (in 10man) was to use the PvP FoL Libram and the glyph of FoL. I had more success with that than the typical HL approach. We have a Resto sham on our raid team that primarily handled raid healing during this fight.
You can also Divine Protection while in the saronite vapor, to take -50% less dmg from it while you regen mana.
It was too early in the morning for this post, sorry. Of course you can’t get beacon of light…I have just had that spell so long it felt like I trained it instead of talented it.
My bad.
I would still argue that ONE of a two paladin heal team could spec this way, and the true holy paladin beacon the healing 13/43/15 paladin so that the true holy paladin’s tank heals are replicated on the other paladin and restores a ton of mana. BUT, if you really do get the 90% healing debuff if you are specc’ed too deep in prot, this would not work. I will test this tonight to see. It is my understanding that the only healing debuff is for ret paladins who spec into judgements of the wise…they get an aura that is called Corrupted Wisdom, and this was specifically designed so holy paladins could not heal while spec judgements of the wise.
Actually I know I am right. I just looked at the logs on our 10 man, and the ret paladin does have this Corrupted Wisdom debuff aura, while the prot paladin main tank does not have it.
So yes, you could have the holy paladin put beacon on a prot paladin wearing holy gear, and that prot paladin could toss out 7k crit flash of lights (40% base crit chance, 90% crit when healing tank with sacred shield on them). Prot gets 30% bonus to crit on heals in their talent tree.
It was just interesting to think about (aside from the mistake on beacon). I am not sure if it could help a group struggling with this boss on hardmode though. Would 7k flash of light heals on infinite mana pool really do much?
Could you position the boss such that you could heal the tank while your back was to a wall?
edit So this did work btw. We only did normal since we were down a player and wanted to get to Yogg anyway, but I was tossing 7.4k crit flash of lights while staying full mana bar and was able to prevent a raid wipe when I hand of sacrificed the tank and absorbed 21k of his damage, popping my AD (had a shadow crash on the group from someone running in from ranged).
