Just wondering what might have caused this.
I’ve been using macros for a long time. Never had an issue. I’ve had a dozen or so general macros for many years. I logged in today and they are all gone. They’re nothing terribly important, I can remake them all easily. But I haven’t done anything I can think of to cause them to disappear. No addon updates, no messing with any savedvariables. I logged out normal yesterday. Computer shut off normal. Its just odd.
I personally have not had this happen. That is definitely strange. Are you positive no one else has had access to your account to do this?
Assuming you’re not using a macro-related add-on, the primary copy of your macros are stored iunder the wow install folder in your computer under the wtf folder and a backup copy is stored on the server. There will be at least 2 files: character specific one and a global one. The backup is only used if the primary file isn’t there at all. If there was a glitch reading the primary file then it’s possible the game interpreted the situation as you having deleted all your macros.
Absolutely positive.
I did download a toybox addon that creates its own macro to use a random favorite toy, but I’ve had that for a week or so and no issues.
IDK, not a huge deal was just curious as I’ve not had this issue in the 14 years I’ve been playing.
This is why I keep weekly backups of my WTF folder.
Given that I assume you’ve logged out since you noticed the issue both your macros-cache.txt
and macros-cache.old
will have been overwritten. You could try deleting both files and see if it will pull your macros from the server but odds are they’ve been overwritten there too.
I don’t know why I didn’t think of that. I do the same thing along with my Interface folder.
edit: and they’re all back now
