General Feedback - Assassin

Been leveling slowly and having fun but did notice some things that are either not feeling the best or otherwise seem like it might be bugged.
I am in no way assuming to balance things only point out what I believe feels ‘bad’ or broken in it’s current state. My focus is also purely on Assassin, I have never had interest in playing Sub or Outlaw

  • Deathstalkers Mark seems just flat out bugged/broken. I have Quietus Celerus so I know that I sometimes will only have 2 stacks start on a target, but I have been using Rupture and Envenom both at 5-6 cp and it just does not consume a stack. Checking damage logs there are fights it just doesn’t show up at all.
  • Let Cut to the Chase apply on any finisher and not just envenom. Usually my opener is:
    Stealth-Garrote-(Mutilate if under 5cp)-Rupture
    then Mutilate-Mutilate-(Mutilate if no crits)-Envenom (finally i have SnD up).
  • Crimson Tempest is a super fun button to press, but please make it prioritize important mobs. Seems like there is more then enough of the non-important easy to kill mini-mobs in group pulls with 2 actual threats. Please let the bleeds spread to the other main mob before targeting the little ones.
  • The very first delve, The Shadow Enclave, has these non-targetable eyes that reveal and cast a easy-to-avoid aoe blast. Please make this not reveal, even if they can still see me. Stealth is still a main part of the damage we do so an entire delve taking that away feels bad.
  • Caustic Splatter is cool, but please stop it from damaging neutral mobs in range. This might seem niche but there are many times I just want to herb or fish a spot and need to kill a single mob, but then pull 5-6 mobs because my poisons seem to just be splashing.
  • Sudden Demise seems… inconsistent. I honestly do not know if it is working or expected to work with Zoldyck Recipe but sometimes the same mobs will just straight die at 50% hp and other times they are still hitting me with 1%. I understand there might be variations based on the time left on the bleeds but I really don’t think it is this wide.
  • Sorry if this one is verging on conspiracy, but I don’t think certain abilities are registering as dealing damage. I don’t run addons and barely changed up the UI using the new ‘Enhancements’ but it really does feel like sometimes I Envenom with 7 CP and Deathstalker’s and the enemy health bar just… doesn’t move. Maybe this is just under tuned damage but man this feels so horrible to fully cp an Envenom and it does nothing.
  • I would love to have Soothing Darkness be a on-stealth heal rather than requiring Vanish. Maybe cool to make it read “Upon entering stealth, heal for 3% of max health per second for 6 seconds. The health recovered is doubled while affected by Vanish.”

Spicy takes?
Move Stealth into a utility role rather than a main part of our combat kit. It has been buggy for a while now and most time we are not allowed to use it anyway for reasons of needing to interact or talk with a mob. Every time I see those quests that ask us to “challenge so-an-so to fight” I sigh knowing I will need at least 5 seconds to even ramp up. Likewise, I am now just skipping the wild herbs in Zul’Aman since the 4 mobs that spawn are a nightmare to deal with if I cannot stealth up first.

Make finishing moves consume a static number of combo points. What would be more combo-esque than saving up a bunch of points and then using multiple finishing moves at once. Talents could be reworked so easily to adjust or modify the cost or damage of them rather than just giving us 2 more point slots to hit for nothing damage. Could be reaching here but I fully believe having a set number of points consumed each time would make balancing our numbers much easier.

Hope this reads more as honest feedback and criticism rather than a rant or complaint. Looking forward to maybe seeing some changes in the near updates.

In fairness to this I felt it should reply that I have done more testing around this point, but still believe it to be bugged.
When I have the Darkest Night buff, Rupture will not trigger Deathstalker’s Mark at all nor will it consume the buff. Without the buff (Darkest Night) Rupture seems to be working as intended and will consume a stack when used at 5+ combo points.
As stated on the talent, using Envenom while you have the buff also does not consume a stack of Deathstalker’s Mark, but it does consume the buff while also not triggering a damage stack from Deathstalker’s Mark.

I do not imagine this is working as intended, as it basically contradicts the point of the capstone hero talent being used to spread stacks.

Can confirm it is bugged since alpha Midnight.

Do yourself a favor and don’t play Deathstalker, even tho its slightly better in aoe, its full of bugs that Blizzard doesn’t ever care to fix it.

And playing around DM is even worse.
There’s no other hero talents in the game that is more broken and badly designed than Deathstalker.

Deathstalker definitely bugged. They need to rework the mechanic anyway IMHO.

Sudden Demise is such a fun, flavorful talent but it doesn’t work in some content. It’s been like this for a long time. Not sure if they are having trouble fixing it or not even trying.

Sudden Demise is also bugged, especially in open world content as it has some scaling issues and because of that it doesn’t always do the correct amount of “fatal” damage or proc at the supposed Health threshold.
