General Discussion I need your advice about my guild's decision

I’m posting on a throw away character incase they happen to see this

so my guild, we are progressing in raids on a realm that has active chats, a RP realm infact, they decided that in the future should we be stuck in progress, they would prefer all of us raiders to transfer to Illidan because more potential

half of me wants me to believe this is ok, but the other half tells me this is not, because this is how guilds fall apart in my opinion. I understand they want to push to Mythic soon, it woould also make me leave my realm that I been called home for years

I had pugged heroic Nya’lotha by my self and got multiple n’zoth kills on my own before I even met this guild.

I just want to know, do I go with them, or is it selfish if I stay on my home realm I been playing WoW for the past 13 years?

Stay home. You won’t regret it.

Players on Illidan aren’t magically better at the game.

It’s a legitimate concern.

The RP realms simply don’t have as many players as the bigger servers, and certainly don’t have as many top-end players as the others.

This affects everything from recruitment, to the economy (try even finding high level BoEs on some of these servers, at any price, e.g.), and if mythic at any level is your goal of course it won’t be cross-server for quite a while.

So it comes down to: is mythic raiding more appealing to you than the comforts of your server, or not? There just aren’t going to be that many (or maybe any) top end mythic guilds where you are now.

Stay at home. If they are desperate enough to think a realm change is the answer I doubt they’ll last long anyway.

That’s not the issue.

It’s recruitment. The hardest boss.

If you’re on a dead medium realm you will struggle to find players willing to server change to you.

It’s easier to move where the potential recruits already are.

leave alt behind, transfer raiding main.

Exact same thing happened with my guild on this server which has been dieing for quite awhile.

So half the guild Transfered over to a major populated server.

What happened was, we tried recruiting people to the guild on the new server. We didn’t have a history on the server and with larger more established guilds on the server we struggled JUST as much as we were on here in recruiting people.

End result Guild got BFA Heroic AOTC on the new server. Blizzard announced shadowlands and half the guild went into cruise mode waiting for this turd of an expansion.

End result Guild fractured, those that wanted to continue into Mythic left and joined a Mythic raiding guild. Remainder went on vacation.

Guild is currently raiding 10 man normal whatever raid is active. Me I’m still working through quests to get all my story lines finished.

It’s taking me forever because I’m not interested in this expansion at all. The quest are meh to me and I’m finding myself falling asleep at the computer trying to do them.

You have my permission to show your guild hierarchy. Moving doesn’t always mean you’ll achieve what your looking for, we went from a 50 characters a night active guild to 10 characters after the move and fracture.

Just FYI you have not hidden your identity whatsoever. Anyone that wants to know who your main is can easily see it connected to this alt.

The guild i raid with is on another server and in BFA asked me to move to their realm so we could try mythic (we wound up not doing it but beside the point.)

I wind up on my alt whos less progressed and just raid log and M+ on my main now because i like my old server more.

If you have been on the server as long as you have, you clearly like it there, rather then the raid opportunity, ask yourself. Do you have more fun with your guildmates, or with the server?

how are they able to?

Any of the PvP alt tracking sites that already have your paladin in the database will show it when you search for this alt, and only one of those lets you opt out.

have you selected in the options to show only the achievements that character has achieved. If you haven’t they can track all of your characters.

Depends on your RP realm. If you’re on WRA or MG, stay put.

Poor Sisters of Elune and Argent Dawn (my old servers) are basically ghost towns these days…

I get legit excited when i see a player from one of them, just showing they still exist.

If OP is on the realm he’s posting from, as of right now their best progressed guild on the server is 1/10M, and during Nya’lotha only one guild managed to actually get Cutting Edge.

They don’t have a recruitment pool on that server. They’ve got a recruitment puddle.

Meanwhile Illidan has literally hundreds of guilds with Mythic progress. Realm transfers aren’t a silver bullet, OP’s guild won’t become a CE level guild overnight if they’re just looking to get into Mythic now, but there’s basically a zero percent chance of being able to get over the wall from Heroic to Mythic if the guild remains on the server they’re currently on.

I mean, this is one of those things where eventually you gotta choose if some place works for you or not. If you don’t like these people enough because you simply don’t have enough investment in them, then that’s fine, there’s nothing wrong with it and you should move on.

im on a different realm, everything I said in OP is twisted multiple ways

I did that in game

I have friends on Sisters of Elune. I wish we could go back to the old days when those realms were more active and were more interconnected with our own.

If you seriously want to push into mythic, consider it, but transfering over can destroy a guild, i’ve seen it.

If pushing harder content seriously isn’t important, dont transfer.
