General Class Question

I will preface this post with I am not asking for changes. At Blizzcon they talked about Rogues and Hunters but what about classes in general? I bring this up because based on other posts there appears to be a stigma for certain classes and/or specs. During the Vanilla period there was an abundance of all class types and specs. This may or may not be the case for both PvE and PvP based on what we remember from our Vanilla experience. Will Blizz care how many of this or that class is played? Will we care? What are peoples thoughts on this?

If Blizz keeps to it’s promise, no.

Oh, you’ll certainly see threads whining this and that class are not represented fairly.

Play what you wanna play and find a good circle of friends.

I tend to remember druids getting a bad rap overall. Supposedly only good as a healbot in raids, and only then for their mana infusion talent and battle rez.
However, I enjoyed PvP as a feral druid, as well as bear tanking dungeons.

As long as you enjoyed yourself, that’s really all that matters. This is a video game, we are here for enjoyment.

In Classic you saw a large variety of classes played because we simply didn’t know better.

now all the knowledge is there so people are picking classes based on what their end game goals are and not so much the class fantasy immersion. Some people still are doing the immersion thing but that is also a reason why we do not need a large beta or a huge Dev team to support classic compared to retail.

We KNOW retail classes aren’t balanced in the least and they’re going to stay that way and that is fine by me

This time around, there will be plenty of information out there to allow people to choose a class they will enjoy. If they want to be the best DPS, then it may not be the class they had hoped. If they want to play a class they will enjoy the RPG aspects of, then it may not be the top DPS.

It really will be motivated by what they find important/fun in gameplay. It’s OK to not have “the best of both world”… as you “can’t always get what you want”…

Play what you will ENJOY. Period. And there are plenty of youtubers and articles discussing this all to allow an informed decision.

Picked a class you don;t like? Roll a different one. That was the Vanilla experience.

Remember too that specs change as people get geared.

A Dual Wielding Fury Warrior tank in AQ40 gear with Thunderfury might be a thing in your UBRS run.

A Shadow Priest or Retribution Paladin might be healing it…

There was more flexibility in how players can play the game than Classic gets credit for.

Even on Pservers right now there are ret paladins fully decked out in AQ gear… people will be fine, yes certain classes will be favored but no… not every guild and group is going to be lead by an elitist that wants 25 fury warriors with ironfoe
