Probably because of the frequency of the topics. It was like the high elf situation before the new forums. The same 10 posters were spamming General Discussion with a barrage of those topics and people loathed them.

Because being a male named lady is silly and way “misgendering” it’s being purposely confusing like calling a dog cat or fish parrot. Words have meanings and by loosing meaning you loose communication.

If a guy wants to be call “lady” that is their prerogative. Also, who cares? Does anyone get confused when my female void elf decided to use “Firelord”?

But I guess people want to be called something then I guess that’s their perogative. Just seems kinda cringe to be a giant muscular man with lady as a title.

I am going with a big who cares, and as a guy who started his MMO journey on Ragnarok Online it never bother me when male characters used obviously female headgear and vice versa. If anything it was just another fun little quirk.

My only issue with this whole thing is how hard it would be to implement. Because WoW is in half a dozen languages and while there are probably at best half a dozen gendered title, that number is alot larger in other languages.

Why would it be difficult to just unlock all of the current titles from being locked to a gender?

Because something tells me this was hardcoded ages ago. More importantly it also means that if it was implemented, the other language versions of WoW will have more titles that the US version so that might cause some issues.

Gendered titles aren’t that old, I don’t think. And they’ve unlocked stuff in other forms.

I am 99% they have been a thing since at least Wrath.

in English we only have “Seeker” for both male and female. The french version on the other hand is gendered, chercheur and chercheuse. This is the case for alot more of their titles.

So assuming we do allow gendered titles to be available to any gender, the Romance language versions of WoW will end up with more titles.

Ah, I see. Eh, I still don’t see that as an issue. I think it’s something they should work on. Even if it’s slowly over time as a back burner project.
