Gender Change on Classic services

Isnt gender change a good way to blizzard make profit without changing something important to gameplay?

Now, my main character is a dwarf female and I wish I could change.

Only reason to change a dwarf female is to get a different hair style.

Gender change is already available, it’s right there at the bottom of your login screen. All you have to do is just click the button that says “Create New Character”.

doesnt work on max level toons.

Of course it does. The time and energy spent re-leveling to 60 teaches you to make better decisions in the future.

Not being able to make changes to a character other than rerolling is possibly my single favorite feature of Classic over Retail.

Before race and sex changes were a thing, I deleted 2 max level toons to reroll.

Ehh… it’s microtransactions.

Honestly speaking, i much rather have the barbershop in Classic with all of retail’s features and etc. Outside of adding a gold sink, i can’t see what changing your skin, hair and all that and even gender hopefully in the future does to change the gameplay.

The only arguments against that are pretty weird, that being that “The gold will be gone if theirs a barbershop”. I still don’t get this fixation of worrying of creating/destroying gold. This isn’t real like currency being thrown in the fire en masse, it’s just a global variable used to determine how much of X you have, just like every other game that features money. Maybe i’m missing something since i’m no economic novice, but i digress. :man_shrugging:

Why? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Legit, why? Is it cause you like the decisions you made to have permanence because it gives meaning? even to cosmetic side of things and even something mundae as hair colors and haircuts that are so commonplace in RPGs to change at anytime you will?

That’s fine if you do, but it just takes me out of my immersion a little when i’m reminded that i’m not allowed to ever change my character’s appearance ever again, especially when tastes change.

Just let me get a haircut…

I suppose it has to do with how in original Vanilla WoW, there was a very strong connection to the actual character. So many things have taken away from character identity in modern WoW that I don’t care about any of my characters. I could delete them all, and only lose things like legendaries that I might equip during timewalking, etc.

Before we were able to make any changes to our characters, we had Vanilla (and BC). A change to that would be the type of change that would ruin my personal Classic experience.

I just like the fact that in retail does allow you… well nearly completely change your character to whatever your current tastes are, cause, tastes are subject to change all the time, and for some, it’s not all that easy to just stick to one cosmetic appearance and roll with it for the rest of the game, i can’t even imagine for 3-5 years worth. Especially since games has come a long way, and always used unlockable costumes, skins, different clothes, and eventually character creations, seen in games like The Sims 1 and 2, GTA SA, Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2, and a couple of CRPG’s that i couldn’t think off the top of my head just to name a few that allows you to edit mid game.

It just feels outdated to me that Vanilla was released in 2004 with all the other games having mid-game customizations, even Runescape, a game much older then WoW has a hairdresser, and WoW doesn’t have anything like that (at least ingame) until the release of Wrath at Nov 13, 2008. To give you an idea of how far character customizations and mid game cc’s became more of a thing, Saints Row 2 came 30 days before WoW’s Wrath. October 14, 2008 to be exact.

Retail in WoD, has added the ability to change faces, packaged alongside the new models, and somewhere between Legion/BFA, has added skin colors to the growing barbershop list.

But anyways, i digress from all that. You do you, and… well i’m somewhat glad you like it. :+1:

I mean, I get it. There are a lot of reasonable things that can be argued are better about Retail.

Personally, the lack of a lot of those things are what I prefer about Classic.

This isn’t real life, you can’t just go change your gender whenever

That description fits about 940 different things that Blizzard could do. That does not mean that Blizzard will do any of those things.

Apparently “we will do anything to make a profit” is not Blizzard’s official strategy regarding Classic WoW.

XD is it ladies night because I’m feeling very womanly right now

This is 2020. We should have AT LEAST 12 different options related to gender

I swear people like you make me wanna puke. Your actually asking to be milked out of your money. If you want to light the money that you spent hours of your life you will never get back obtaining on fire then there is no shortage of other games that let you do that. go play one of those and burn yourself into destitution!
