So, I went from 2500k to 5800k
and 7800 to 3070
and 3.5" basic ssd via sata to gen4 ssd
I went from graphic settings 3 to graphic settings 7.
But my load screens are worse on the 5800x.
Now I might be upgrading my 5800x to 9950x3d in Jan. In which I will have graphic settings 7-10.
My question is, will gen 5 cause the same issue, due to wow being cpu/gpu intensive? Not much faster load screens? Or would gen5 be worth it?
Realistically, loading wow should not be hitting the bandwidth restriction of a x4 PCIe gen 4 SSD, so going to a full gen 5 drive should be no noticeable change (only a whole lot more expensive).
If going from sandy bridge to zen 3 made loading screens worse, you probably have some misbehaving addons.
The only use case for Gen 5s is extremely high, constant data throughput. The cost is very high, a lot of motherboards only have 1 slot right now, and the majority of people don’t have a need for them, especially gamers. Windows itself won’t be able to utilize the capability in a tangible way for your average consumer, so save your money.
I bought an X670E specifically for four Gen 4 slots, but I always tell my friends to grab a B650 to save money, and put Gen 4s in it, and/or some fat SATA SSD/external if they need a lot of storage.
As for your other specs, they’re a bit confusing. You upgraded from a 2500k to a 5800X? And went from a 7800 XT to a 3070? Assuming I’m understanding that right, the CPU is an upgrade, but the GPU is a large downgrade.
For load times, there’s a number of factors on that. One in-game issue I was having was with IPv6 causing some zones to take forever to load into.
I went from a 2500k to a 5800x. Sorry, the card was a HD 7800 series from 2012? I built the computer for Diablo 3 launch if I recall correctly. It was only a $250 card or so, I think the 7850? I am sorry, I thought it was 7800? Not even sure if they made an HD 7800, as this page only shows 7850/70.
