Why aren’t we gemming str when str is the thing that generates all of our dps?
Is that even a thing anymore? The pretty much nerfed the BFA gems to ineptitude, didn’t they?
Because there aren’t any Shadowlands strength gems.
But Str per point is still above and away better than any other stat. So why not get any advantage we can??
Because you’re not trading point for point. The Kraken’s Eye of Strength gives +6 str, while SL gems give +16 rating.
Leviathan gives 7. But isn’t strength the thing that powers all of our dps outside of of course weapon damage?
Of course, but so what? Versatility buffs all our damage too, that doesn’t mean it’s the best stat. It’s just a question of how much each stat is worth. If 7 strength sims higher than 16 of a rating, sure, go for it.
Side question totally unrelated to this but I noticed you run super high mastery. Is that the result of “ilvl wins” or you went for that on purpose? I ask because of diminishing returns. I personally cut some mastery down (going with the BOE ring and sludge chest) to put more towards baseline dps and durability with verse and I’m still slightly above DR. Trying to go as balanced as I can (that’s why I need your weap lol)
It’s just an accident of gearing; I didn’t aim for mastery specifically. I’d actually like to have less mastery and more versatility for when I play Holy, haha.
I’m using leviathan in one of my slots.
The issue isn’t using leviathans or not. In most guides I don’t believe they’ll tell you to pick it as it is less commonly available and probably offers about equal value to just getting an SL gem instead.
They’re widely available on Stormrage. But I think I’m seeing what people are saying. If Str is worth double then I see why they purposely nerfed the leviathan eye below half of what SL gems are… no matter what mathematically it doesn’t compete. Verse is like strength in a lot of regards.
OP go sim it.
I did. 16 haste is worth 1 point dps more than 7 str.
I gem str in ring sockets simply because there ISN’T str on rings period. Whats the point on having a million diff. rings if you dont make primary stats for them?
They removed primary stats, I believe, so that multiple classes and speccs could use a single ring. Makes it easier for loot tables and for multi-spec classes.
