What does this increase the perceived ilvl by if it has a gem socket? Say I have a 415 item and a 400 item with a gem slot. What does the gem slot add to the item?
No, gem socket won’t affect ilvl, though in a lot of cases a 400 socketed items will beat a 415.
Depends. “Smaller” items with weaker stats compared to things like legs weigh more. Things like bracers will weight a lot more than something like pants and gloves, because they have less base stats to begin with. In a lot of cases, something with 20-25ilvl on those pieces can beat out a higher ilvl piece.
The items in question are boots off Ivus… both are the Stoneroot Stompers but one is ilvl 400 with socket and the other is ilvl 415. Don’t know which one to use.
with bracers, boots, cloak a 415 socket version would be better than a 425
Sim them. /10chars
Really depends on the piece and the stats. I just got a 420 ring with decent stats, but it still sims less then my 400 ring with a socket. #feelsbadman
google raidbots to sim it. even easier if you get the addon simc to just copy/paste as needed.
Thanks. The sim was minor but the simcraft showed the 415 won.
It depends on the spec and various stat weights. Along with what slot you’re talking about.
With cloaks the socket is normally 15 ilvls since they don’t have much itemization weighted to them. Meanwhile legs will normally be stronger than a socket for ANYONE at 10 ilvls. And it matters how strong your primary stat is. For some specs intellect/str/agi is FAR weaker than the secondaries. This is why the epic gems don’t sell very well.
So that’s why jewelcrafting isn’t making me any money this expansion
