All in all, it becomes too tedious to only last a season. I’d rather just have a ring and/or trinkets something that is the only thing that needs to be upgraded each season with the exception of BiS crafted gear, if that exists.
I guess that’s part of the rpg experience for people it was for me. It’s too much though for the average person, or gamer. The prospect of it all is overwhelming and gives me anxiety tbh. Just make BiS easy for most gear slots with only a ring or variety of trinkets a legendary or two that need to be regularly upgraded in ilvl via quest raid or pvp.
Maybe I’m just lazy and have been conditioned by other games, but I can’t help but feel this gear grind rat race system is a bit antiquated. The growing ilvl situation that kills all your gear is just a nuisance to me at this point as a solo player. like for real.
I don’t like that the last seasons gear literally gets grayed out which makes it seem like absolute garbage once a new season starts. Replacing my carefully curated build with anything that has a ilvl/stat boost and losing a tier bonus sucks too.
If the foundation of the content is gear grinding that’s not fun. I like playing the game, the gear gets in the way actually.
I’d rather cap ilvl except for legendary stuff trinkets and rings. maybe even be able to choose from a variety of tier bonus’s from prior seasons perhaps expansions.
I find that gear comes along on its own if I just play the game. After doing some quests, I go to a repair NPC, fix my broken stuff and go through my inventory. I delete things I don’t need, store things I do and put on gear if it’s better than what I’ve got. Then I go to transmog, turn the new gear back into what I like then head out questing again.
Gear is just there, comes along on it’s own. Not much of a grind to it.
Most endgame stuff is in high level raids which is not part of the game I like. There’s plenty of other stuff to do. I am mostly here for the stories. I can find out what happened in the endgame by watching the cut scenes on YouTube.
i remember when Wotlk came out and one guildie asks my GM: “How long until you’re 80?”. he replies “I’ll be 80 in about 40 hours”. The guy asks “is that in-game 40 or irl 40?” and the GM replies “they’re the same thing”.
Gearing actually is quite easy . I fooled around for a week and got away from season 3 gear to barely lfr giving me any upgrades. Another week I would have to force myself to to raid to get ups
I think that’s mostly just the upgrade track. Which I think is silly anyway. They should just let us upgrade old gear if that’s what we want to spend the currency on…especially if it yields transmogs that we don’t have.
Since Holly is in charge, they could always go the EverQuest route for gear where yeah you have pieces drop each expansion that are power creep but there are still items from 10 - 20 expansions ago that are game changers to this day causing players to forgo replacing them.
Hell Necromancers in EQ were still using their Epic 2.0s since 2006 up til 2018/2019 because of the crit it added to dots.
Honestly I would be fine with gear resetting every few months if myth gear wasnt timegated.
If I can do say 32 dungeons in one week then I should be entitled to 4 pieces of vault gear from m+ instead of just one because I did 32 dungeons instead of 8.
Likewise if I clear the raid twice I should be entitled to twice as much loot because I did the raid twice.
Who cares if some people are able to gear up quickly? If player A clears 2x as much content as player B then player A should recieve 2x as much gear as player B not the same amount.
