Gearing is terrible and unrewarding because of casuals

It wouldn’t feel good, that’s for sure. But my dignity and self-worth are worth more to me than gear in a video game.

So… some of them were jerks. Jerks are pretty much everywhere. If I encounter a jerk in a truck that rides my tail and drives aggressively, I don’t assume that everyone driving a truck is most likely a jerk.

…okay, I kind of do with men in trucks. Especially in the middle of a blizzard when they blast pass you on the ice and snow covered left lane that is more of a two-track at 70 mph. Four wheel drive doesn’t help on ice, Todd!

Feels good man!

It seems like you don’t want to do anything at all. And that example that lacryma gave collapsed that guild. How did you miss the point that top guilds will seize to exist if they attempt anything like that?

I get that, I really do. I also am in favor of the queueing systems we have in place and would not want to see them removed. However, it really bothers me to see people claim others are stopping them from doing something. The only person capable of stopping you is you. Again, I really don’t mean that harshly, but I’d like to see everyone make the effort to empower themselves rather than wait for it to be done for them.

Well that’s something that as a GM I’ve realized to be a thing for a lot of people. For example in the past we had a few bad RBG nights and people were complaining that things weren’t going well and leadership isn’t solid (not me at the time). And when I then said…

“Okay. Well who would like to lead?”

…I get silence. Is it intimidating to start up groups when you don’t know exactly what to do? Hell yes. I was soft spoken when I started doing things like leading World PvP groups against guilds that had much bigger numbers than us. But over time I learned that I need to lead with confidence behind my voice with a clear plan in mind.

I believe anyone can be a leader. All it takes is putting up your hand and taking charge of whatever group you’re putting together. You set the standard. You set the pace. And you set the attitude of the group. And if anyone wants to try and get in the way of that…

pluck!

I mean whats the likelihood for people to lead their own raid groups. I know I have no interest in doing that. Some people probably don’t have time to lead.

When I said I consider it a win is because right off the first reaction you instantly had to change what I was saying. You didn’t have anything to retort with other than a troll like response. I consider that you don’t really have much of a point other than to antagonize others. So if there is nothing of substance in your next post, I’m afraid this convo is going to end here.

/cheers if so. I hope you can find something that brings you joy that helps bring others up than try to tear them down.

Every single attempt I’ve made to try to step up and be a leader has ended up in failure, to a laughable degree. I just have no confidence in myself. I try to step up, and it always falls apart.

Been like that since Vanilla. You don’t think I’ve tried to form groups in the past?

It’s funny because RBGs is something I’d like to do but I can’t find a decent group that will take me and I can’t lead my way out of a paper bag. And if I try to “pluck!” anyone it just unravels the thin thread that already exists in the first place and falls apart.

Hell I don’t even have the confidence or fortitude to lead an Uldir group, which is something I actually still want to do for transmogs.

Excellent posts on this thread, by the way. I don’t mean to go off-topic, but I felt a kudos beyond my “like” was in order.

Thanks <3

Why shouldn’t a Mythic Raid clear not bear any fruit for the effort it takes then

Persistence is a massive factor in success when it comes to WoW. It happens in losing arenas, wiping on bosses, failing the M+ timer and many other things. Failure is part of the path to success. Like I said, I was soft spoken and didn’t know a thing about leading World PvP groups and how to be a proper leader. That was Cataclsym. In MoP I began to hit my stride and ended up causing wipes for a guild that a lot of people thought impossible because of the numbers they had against our faction. Which said guild liked to bully and attempt to cause other guilds to fall apart by showing up to everything they did in Contested Territory and dropping 2 raids on them.

It takes time and experience to get into the role. Just like most things in life, it only takes that first step and the will to keep moving forward.

I’m glad you did. You just seem to have a thicker skin and tougher attitude all around. I wish I did but that’s just simply not the case.

This is the attitude i had before i spent a year straight in an inpatient rehab.

True,I did mine because of intimation from others who said I was nothing for years.I didn’t get far in raids but I wanted to raid.I was at a point it was the only option I had.It wasn’t easy and it will never be.I too had the same experience jalen had yet it is possible and learned from it too.

Yeah I am trying to find some help of that sort. All I have these days is depression and thoughts of suicide every day because of my confidence issues. All I can do is feebly defend what little I have left in this game.

Oh,

so you’ve proclaimed yourself the winner, painted an opposing view point as invalid (based on nothing), then immediately withdrew from the conversation.

Ok.

So in order to keep you engaged I’m forced to play by your rules…I feel like I’ve seen this tactic somewhere before. Ah screw it, let’s play.

From what I can tell, your initial reply to me had next to nothing to do with my posts. So I’m forced to surmise that your point is RNG has replaced guild control.

Yes, it has, thanks for that bit of clarity (look we’ve been in agreement the whole time)

So then, to your “winning” I’m still not sure what you’re winning exactly, or why you considered yourself to be in opposition of me in the first place.

We both rightfully agree that guild control of loot has shifted, and RNG is a larger factor in determining who gets an item.

Why did you want to force me into spelling this out for you exactly?

I’m excited to find out!

Well, Classic is just around the corner. IF and I mean IF you wish to try again to see if being more bullheaded will get you to more places then you could give it a shot again. Not to say just abandon retail because it seems that you’ve found yourself a good guild with people you can mesh with. But it’s your choice if you want to.

If you’re happy with Classic I won’t fault you on that. More power to you. But for someone like me that was persistent on getting goals even if that meant having to do some things I found inconvenient, I can’t get behind BFA at all. I can see a future for me in Classic. But unless the next expansion takes a different turn, I can’t see myself in modern WoW any more.

I’m curious do some of you that suggest to ignore the negativity have friends or a guild to run the current content with??

Take it one step in time, savor every moment.
