I’ve gone up 15 ilvl in like 5 days. I see a lot of invites for my keys. If you don’t mind walking in a dungeon, here’s how to be like me and gear up easy!
- Play a tank or a healer. Way more people need these roles.
- Don’t waste your time Normal raiding to gear up. Mythic+ is the fastest method. Walk in Normal later on.
- Check your ilvl! Some of you are walking in a +2 with 210 ilvl and getting surprised when your healing is bad. Look up what ilvl the key level drops. If your ilvl is more than 10 levels below what it drops, you probably won’t do good.
3b. Get the catch-up gear in Zereth Mortis and on the auction house then do #6 - Stack your groups armor type. Like I will stack hunters and shamans for a key.
- List your own keys. This way you get to not pick players with low score or low experience.
- Tour regular mythic dungeons for ilvl262 items.
- Defeat the world boss for ilvl285 loot.
- Convert your high level items into Tier pieces.
- Shoot for timing an 11 or above for competitive Great Vault items.
- Use flask: Spectral Flask of Power - on the Auction House. Gives you like 50% more DPS and throughput. Enchant and gem your gear. Use Shadowcore Oil. Eat a food personal for +30 of a second stat. Look up what consumables your class spec needs and use those forever. (you don’t need flask in open world)
- Don’t gear in LFR. Unless you’re strapped for play-time, and you don’t mind 5 wipes and 30 minutes on a boss.
Take these steps and you’ll wonder why you’ve just been doing whatever you’ve been doing.
Trust me, I played Fury in Nyalotha and was lost in Heroic with just ilvl435. Then, I played Boomkin in SanctumOD wasting my time in raids and joining other people’s low-level keys. I wish someone tipped me on how to gear better!
That said, I wish open-world gearing was viable so I could level up solo/with a bud and focus on playing my class well. That would’ve saved me all the time I’ve been lost the last two years! Please make questing and renown gear better in Dragonflight, Blizz.
