Gearing and you, TWW

There have been quite a few questions and inquiries about how to gear up in the current expansion. I’ve geared and capped a few toons this week, so thought I’d write something up to help.

Caveat: The way I did it may not be optimal, I’m only giving pointers based on what I did. If you got extra tips, let me know, I’ll edit the OP.

Part 1: The grind!

Total honor needed: 11,000~ (assuming you’re gearing solely through honor, with no gems).

  • Farm honor via random / epic BGs while doing sparks quest in Isle of Dorn (much easier when there’s a pvp quest up, the fact this ever goes away during sparks week is insane btw). Please make sure you utilize a Vicious Flask of Honor, 15% more honor.

  • By doing the above you will cap your bloody tokens (Sparks WQ gives 1000, looting bounty / crates also gives quite a few + 150 honor each time you either loot a bounty, or a chest. Multiple bounties can be active back to back as well, resulting in a nice chunk of honor).

  • This is the most boring part, but use it to learn your specs and rotation. You can min max and do 1 of everything for “max” honor gains (1 2s win, 3s win, solo, blitz, etc), or you can just turn on music and play bgs. Either way, you’re farming.

Part 2: The Crafts

  • After completing a few arena, shuffle, or blitz matches you’ll get a quest akin to what we saw in Dragonflight. Instead of Trophies we use Heraldry, the quest will award 9. We need between 3-6 for crafting pieces. (Small pieces, necks, rings, etc cost 3 Heraldry, pants cost 4, weapons I think cost 5?).
  • Once you have your Heraldrys you can go to the Crafting order place, search “Algari Competitor’s ______”, and locate the mats. (Use the nifty track recipe check box below the item to bring up a similar ui to quest objective, that way you can see all the mats you need).
  • Embellishments & Missives are similar, search for, “Algari missive of the _____”. There are several Embellishments to play around with, healers seem to be gravitating to a leech effect when above 80% hp. PRECOG IS NOT AN EMBELLISHMENT, IT IS A GEM. Buy it off the AH.

Part 3: Conquest weapon quest & Catalyst

  • There is a quest provided by Lalandi which awards a Conquest weapon after 2500 conquest has been amassed. Please get this before you start farming any conquest. It does not count unless you have the quest. There are also minimal options to choose from, so stats might suck. Need to ask Blizzard to idk change that.

  • Catalyst is the same as its always been, take a piece of tier to the thing and put it in there, convert to tier. Note you can get 2 piece this week by achieving 1600!

Part 4: I didn’t know where to put this info!

  • Pay attention to war supply crates, they spawn often & includes 150 honor, a chance at recipes, bloodstones & some conquest + bloody tokens.
  • Its a new season, with new talents and hopefully new goals for everyone. Good luck, have fun. Miss you all

Overall a solid overview!

Tl;dr:
1.grind honor or purchase crafted gear from the AH.
2. Accept conquest weapon quest
3. Play the game and get/buy gear as you normally would
4. Look at what most people are crafting in a week or 2 and make those pieces.
5. Thank your healers for playing.

Good info and honestly something Blizzard should have done.

I want to levy some criticism towards them for War Mode objectives being borderline useless. It seems insane to me that after what, the 5th year of War Mode there are only two quests per 24 hours. Usually they have little to nothing offered that a player really wants.

Pvp WQs should be on 6 hr or less spawns, always reward a base amount of honor, and even some conquest.

The PVP WQ that is in the zone of Sparks weekly should literally never go away unless completed. Trying to do weekly sparks when there’s no WQ in the zone you have to collect them in is pointlessly annoying.

Good thread

Also for the time being apparently the embellishment that drops mines is extremely potent whereas the one that does a lil bonus damage seems useless. Tuning will change this if it happens but yeah. If u want free damage for potentially a short time craft the mines one

This thread should probably just be stickied

I STRONGLY recommend waiting 2 weeks to craft gear. You will not be significantly behind by not crafting a piece and wont realistically win or lose many (if any) games because of a few % stats.

Blizzard has already announced tuning this upcoming tuesday and the week after to buff/nerf under/overperforming specs in pvp, pve, and items. (They do this at the start of every single expansion after heroic and mythic week 1)
