Gearing a new char at lvl 70 is a huge PITA

I skipped Dragonflight, so I have a bunch of lvl 60s. My first char leveled fine because it was a boosted evoker w/ ilvl 460 gear.

My 2nd and 3rd char were druid and pally. My druid got lucky and got some stuff from chests.

My pally is royally screwed though. I wanna switch to ret from prot and its impossible to get a 2h weapon. I picked up blacksmithing but I can’t even craft one. In the AH there is no 2hders that I can even wear. All the quests give prot gear if I do them as prot. If I go to dungeon as prot my hp is so low my group will hate me. If I go as ret I will do no damage without a 2nder. Wtf am I supposed to do?

It’s worth requesting one be made for you in trade chat and paying a crafter directly if you’re specifically having trouble with finding a 2hander.

If you don’t want to go that route, you might want to try sticking with prot and running dungeons or delves until you get a 2hander to drop.

There are zero level 71-73 craftable 2nders in the game…

Do some Quest until you see a weapon reward. If your loot spec or current spec is set to retribution, it will be a two-handed weapon.

You could switch your spec before turning the quests in, allowing you to get the Ret loot instead.

And if doing dungeons, you can change your loot spec to Ret as well, to get Ret loot instead of Prot.

This is a problem with the funnel that Blizzard has overlooked, they shouldn’t be funneling players into TWW who don’t have a high enough iLvl, let alone level 69.

They should provide players a set of gear (400-ish) to get them going—even if it’s to purchase via an NPC—when they start TWW, so they can dive in and at least start everything and gradually gear up questing in Khaz Algar.

Item rewards seem screwed. What’s funny is the quest line where you go to that village with Baelgrim in first zone you know? It gives you two weapon rewards like back to back. But you’d be level 71 at that point and never see another 2h again it feels like.

If they are still active, you could get a 2h weapon from a Df time rift or the dreamsurge with the currency from those. It should be around 450-460-ish.

after sitting in AH for a few hours someone finally posted a 2hder for 400g around my level.

Because it’s Level 70 … not 71- 73.

You Can Craft a Level 70 and use a training matrix to increase its ilvl. Training matrix can be gotten from WQ.

If you’re gonna argue, at least know what you are trying to argue.

You mean because it’s from Dragonflight.

It is a problem that with Khaz Algar crafting you can only craft chest, boots and wrists at level 71 with literally every other slots only being level 80.

One shouldn’t have to craft gear from the previous expansion when they are leveling in the latest expansion.
What is even the point of Soul Sigil 1 when it only works on 3 items?
Khaz Algar crafting is half baked and has no thoughts put into it.

it’s a temporary weapon to help you level up until you get the next one.

Additionally, if he was actually leveling in TWW, at 70, the 1st bunch of quests give you 508 weapons and gear.

And you don’t see a problem with there not being level 71 craftable weapons with Khaz Algar?
Or any problem with said temporary gear giving you maybe 300k HP versus the over 1 million HP from having level 71 gear from Khaz Algar?

Blizzard wanted to hyper inflate all the stats but they didn’t provide a reliable way to enter the expansion with the expected stats that Khaz Algar gear provide, because they balanced the whole thing around people having end game Dragonflight gear and not entry level Dragonflight gear.

No I don’t see a problem with that because no one ever actually uses them, except this one guy, here on the forums right now, but he got a green on the AH now all is well with the world again.

OP had to level up from 60 to 70 anyway - they should have been able to do some quests that reward appropriate ilvl gear.

I mean, you’re wrong, people use the crafted level 71 chest, wrists and boots, and I also don’t know why you would be against them making other slots available for crafted level 71 gear other than to be a contrarian for the sake of being a contrarian.
But that is usually how it goes here on the forums.

This topic is about a 2-H weapon.

now go back to your lurking.

You could always go buy a crafted dragonflight 2h and use it to quest until a tww 2h is awarded.
