Geared rogue getting solo'd by meta locks and hunter pets

Had a lot of fun on SoD but don’t want to play until next phase due to weird PvP balancing. Of course I never expected it to be balanced because balancing the level 25 bracket is impossible in the first place - especially with all these new abilities.

Got Glad in retail at the start of Dragonflight so not a L2P issue. The Warlock can do nothing but press drain life and afk and I won’t be able to win lol.

What is the chance that the level 40 bracket will be more interesting/competitive next phase? Genuinely not sure what to expect.

I’m super-relaxed, man.

Ignoring the fact that Meta warlock is quite literally a top 3 dueling spec in the game right now,

This is actually seems like a big L2P issue. Drain life has a 20 yard range and is literally the power behind their dueling prowess right now. You really should be using quickdraw or between the eyes and breaking drain life literally as soon as it’s applied, because that’s 10+ seconds where the warlock is going to be incredibly vulnerable. Even gouge + sprint. If you’re not actively breaking drain life, you’re upset that you’re playing right into what the warlock wants.

Unless the warlock is a potato, running 20 yards away just guarantees a fear and I lose anyway. This is not viable counterplay for rogues or warriors, but I understand that is how to beat it as most other classes yes.

If the warlock is running meta and can’t fear me, they will just outlive me and I will die to their 2 instant cast dots way faster than I can get through their raid boss hp bar.

Gouge him fun away break drain life dot go back in kill.

Quickdraw is a 50% slow, BTE is a 1-5 second stun, Gouge is a 4-5.5 second stun, and you have sprint to quickly create distance. It’s not a matter of the warlock being a potato, you literally have a kit to deal with this. Use it.

If sprint is not on cd, this will work on regular warlocks as long as they aren’t very good. This won’t work on any warlock who is half decent/geared and this will NEVER work on any lock running meta. Just too much armor with no penalty to their DoT dps.

Sooo… Slaughter from the Shadows, Bonus to Ambush and Backstab spec, pvp dagger, Vanish and Shadowstrike to close gap, Between the eyes to stun. Locks panic if you don’t panic.

Oh and don’t forget your pvp trinket.

So it’s not like retail so you don’t like it. How can you be any good at the game yet can’t deal with a nerfed hunters pet? Lol you know if you open on the Hunter, they literally can’t get away or do jack.

It’s a L2P this game properly. That’s like me going into counterstrike and wondering why I can’t instantly pwn people like I could on CoD.

Not true I hate retail haha. I was playing era for the last few months leading up to SoD. I only played first season of DF then got bored.

I’m not losing to hunters because they are getting away… I’m losing to hunters because the serpent can lightning breath me to death through my evasion and kills me faster than I can kill the hunter.

The LB is approx like 200ish damage on average for a geared player. They can LB 2 times in 3 seconds then have to wait 6 seconds to do a 3rd and 4 more seconds to do a 4th. I doubt that the pet is killing you through evasion quicker than you can kill a defenceless hunter lol

Works for me just fine, dunno what to tell ya, but if you want to argue that every single warlock I’ve fought as a Rogue is just bad at the game, and every warlock you’ve fought is just good at the game, then sure, there’s really no counterargument to this, and it’s sorta of counterproductive towards figuring out how to beat it, which we’ve already given you the formula. Meta lock lives and dies around drain life, literally. Do with that information what you will.

I played era for a few months pretty casually leading up to SoD and had a level 50 spriest and a level 42 ret. I think classic pvp is much more fun and much more interesting/engaging than retail and I think classic pvp is surprisingly very balanced with every class having favorable and unfavorable matchups.

I don’t get this same feeling from SoD at all. I didn’t hit 60 in era yet but I was pvping nonstop at all level brackets and it always felt way more balanced and competitive than SoD to me. But I’m not saying this to dump on SoD. Like I said SoD was really fun and I know future phases will also be fun. I don’t know why yáll trying to act like 25 pvp with all these random new abilities is balanced. I never expected it to be balanced and like I said it’s probably near impossible to balance such a game mode until later phases.

Sure, SoD definitely has some balancing issues (looking at you pets and heals that don’t get 25% DR’d in WSG for whatever reason), but at least with the meta lock situation, it’s a complete lack of effort to counterplay it on your part rather than an actual issue that needs to be prioritized. Posts complaining about stuff that can be counterplayed just wait time and clog space.

It sounds moreso like you’re just venting that you can’t burst down a literal tank spec as a rogue with a quick opener, which shouldn’t be realistic anyways.

oh darn, THE pvp class is now getting punished… when should I start to care about this?

Rogues aren’t bad at all in SoD

Just a couple classes that are clearly way ahead of the rest though. Ashenvale is nothing but hunters and locks running around.

Solution: play the overpowered specs / classes and exploit it until they nerf it.
