Gear system revamp, stop limiting ilvl on items

Think about it, we have all these “tracks” (Adventure, Veteran, Champion, Heroic, Mythic) why? Why does the game need THIS many tracks of gear. Which caps and gets replaced for minimal gain (like going 8/8 Champion vs say 6/6 Heroic is a very small ilvl gain, and honestly a lot of times I don’t even care to get the Heroic piece since I know I wont want to farm gilded crest anyway so 4/6 Hero = 8/8 Champion)

Why even have tracks like this at all? Let ANY ITEM be able to go up to whatever the max ilvl is…OBVIOUSLY if someone wanted to get it up there, they’d still NEED to do higher pillar content as they’d still NEED the crests - could leave those at the same break points they are currently. And yes, if someone got a very low item like a “veteran” track currently, it would take an extreme amount of crests and valorstones to get it up to max ilvl for 1 single item so it wouldn’t be the “best” method to gear.

What it WOULD give people

–A reason to do low content. Low M+ is dead. A reason for geared players to do lower content like LFR/Normal raiding (I remember this was 1 thing I originally liked in Legion when people wanted Legendaries and did lower level content which helped my runs be more successful)

-A “bad luck” protection of sorts. You’d just have far more places/chances to get that specific piece you want. Obviously getting it from Heroic raid would start out much higher then if you got it from LFR, but lets say you only get the LFR one and you never see it drop in Heroic, you’d have a path to make it up to the same ilvl for more currency but you wouldn’t stress about it as much over it never dropping in Heroic

-The fact GEAR should be GEAR and I am all about putting it time investments and such if you want the best gear, but the upgrading system alone does that. Right now getting an item in lower content feels less rewarding since you basically have to farm the same item over and over and over, it’s stupid.

I agree.
I don’t see much point in so much complexity.
Why not base everything on the item’s ilevel?
The higher the ilevel, the more expensive the upgrade would be, requiring better Crests.
I think even the Crests could be simplified, but that’s a topic for another time.

Because blizzard have to protect their first class citizen of mythic raiders which is like 1% of the player base? and their core gaming gimmick “Raid”, which most people loath this days

At this point, just do it. If need be, cap quest gear at adventurer level currently but let all the epics scale all the way. Crests are divided based on content level, that’s the whole point. Let them be used to upgrade the items.
