M+ has been very frustrating for a lot of players, myself included (you may have argued with me on this very forum), but I like to try to propose solutions to issues and not just complain.
One thing I was thinking about is a “Scrap mechanic”
Basically, if someone gets a piece of Veteran gear to 606 or Champaion gear to 619 they can “scrap it” for an amount of the next tier of crests. This gives players a slow progression underlying every run they do in the game successfully to upgrade the gear that they have pushed into. One of the big issue is that hero gear is a meaningless reward unless you do +9s but, you don’t even have to change anything if you can introduce a gearing process tangentially that alleviates the frustration of failing a high key. With a scrap mechanic no gear drop from a key is meaningless because it can be upgraded to 619 and then scrapped. This gives players something to do with their valorstones AND a way to progress their gear.
You could even tie it to the game with goblin/gnome RP.
I remember the nightmare of the Scrap-o-matic in BFA. I want to see them add this was a LOW scrap rate just to watch the M+ers lose their minds even more and complain about RNG.
I’m fairly new so I didn’t go through the scrap-o-matic - Thanks for the context!

I see the logic behind this but they would nerf the reduced cost for secondary pieces and probably still make them cost crests as a means of gating this idea to compensate.
Well welcome to WoW! Always nice to have new"er" players! Yeah, we had a machine in Battle For Azeroth that did what you described but the scrapping drop rate was beyond low. It took me scrapping over 1000 items just to get 9 expulsom which was the prime crafting reagent at the time. 0.9% was terrible.
Yeah, no, 0.09% is truly awful

Solution is then to run 9s
IKR?? Plus, as much as people yell about crests, I feel like they would drop it lower to like 0.5%. It’s a great thought, but they are gating crests for a reason. Not a player favored reason, but sub favored.

I know you’ve read extensively about the barriers to doing that from players on the forums and you’re just being condescending. Its a waste of your time and mine to keep having this conversation and I wish that you would just play Wow and let people express their opinions. You’re just being a troll.
D’oh!
We scraping gear or scrapping it?
Yeah, my thought was… do like a half a failed key? So 2 to 3 crests. Its a trickle but if you fail 7 7’s and get 3 pieces of loot, that’s at least 6 to 9 crests. I think that that respects the time investment of a player. A 0.09% drop is… just disrespectful in the same vein. It seems like that is at the core of a lot of the end game systems of Wow - Mechanics made arbitrarily elongated to keep people from finishing something. Truly disrespect of the time players commit to your game.
While I do not disagree with your idea, they are here to make money, and that comes from being subbed. So there are thousands of mounts, pets, achievements, and mog items to keep you on the hunt, which is what I do. I hate timed keys and PvP, so I will literally spend 10-12 hours a day some days in the game just farming old expacs for each of those things. It may feel like “disrespecting player’s time”, but you are willingly paying to play in a timesink MMO. So really you have to ask yourself, am I having enough fun to stay subbed? For me, the answer is yes. I have neve unsubbed in almost 19 years, but then again, I have about 18k more achievement points, 1100 pieces of mog gear, 700+ battle pets, and at least 200 more mounts I still want to collect.

Absolutely! I’m not mad, just sad in a way. The barrier to getting into this game is immense. I spent about a month researching about Wow just to be at the place where I could play it competently. No one tells you about add-ons, or gear progression, or what makes you a good or bad player for pugging or guilds. Its really an entire process to even on-board on to Wow. On top of that its also is extremely toxic, culturally, towards people learning so its just not condusive to growing its playerbase at all right now. I know they are aware but its going to take an epic overhaul to fix it I think. With the current changes they’ve made, they’ve made it even harder for causual players to interact with end game content if they would like to. I try to be proactive. I’m not a game dev, I know they are smarter when it comes to in-game systems then I am but I also think its important to be part of the discussion, provide feedback and ideas because its a community and thats how we grow.

I absolutely agree with the bulk of what you said; however, as a casual, I know that IF I want to progress any further than heroics or LFR, I have to put in more time, start with Mo (formerly M10) and work my way up. I get to see the same content with little to no effort by sticking to Heroics and LFR. To me, M+ was a “challenge mode” and I play to relax, not to challenge myself. But again, I get it. It can be frustrating and discouraging. As for the Addons, I highly recommend checking out CurseForge and then sorting by “Popularity/Downloads” and anything over 800k is something you will find useful. I wish you luck, and hope you find fewer toxic players. Sadly, most timed keys are run by some very unfriendly and intense people who want you to learn on your own time. Personally, I stick to normal content since people are more friendly and chatty in dungeons.

Yes. And know what 95% of them have in common? A sense of entitlement and lack of personal accountability.
Why does the game need to lower itself to your standards instead of you rising to the challenge?
You havent even maxed your gear for what Runed crests will allow you to upgrade to try to overcome that barrier and youre asking for nerfs and things to be made easier.
Now if thr majority of people maxed out their gear and could make the leap into that next tier, then yeah, i may be on board with looking at revising something. As it stand now though…people fail once at 50% effort and start asking for hand outs. Not everyone deserves everything. Its okay for people to not be mythic tracked and bis in every slot.
You know whats funny - you don’t even do this content. You’ve done LFR and have only progressed up to a +4. Its weird that you care so much about content you aren’t even involved in. What is your motivation even?!
I’ve timed 77 keys this season - 38 of those at a higher than a +5. I have an informed opinion on the subject, I’m not just complaining.
Congratz on having a lot of free time.
My stance doesnt change. The difficulty doesnt really matter. Not everyone needs everything. Its okay for your max to be less than someone elses.
Its not bad leaving challenges in the game. If you cant do it, you cant do it. No shame. Keep trying till you do get it or admit it beyond you.
But begging for things to be brought down to your current level is not the way to go about it
I agree. It would be great if the game promoted recycling.
