Gear scarcity for PVE, but not PVP?

I understand going into Shadowlands the idea was to make gear more valuable by upping the rarity & removing RNG like Titanforging, however, PVP got the complete opposite end on the stick, you get showered with above Heroic level gear for just achieving Rival, which honestly is not that difficult at all with a meta comp.

It feels like doing 15’s & Heroic Nath clears is a waste of time at this point, yet my PVP mates who barely touch PVE are rocking 220+ Weapons & are around 220 ilvl, it feels like as a PVE mainly player, i will be forced to PVP to keep up.

Is there going to be any changes to the PVE loot to change this? maybe justice/valor points can return.

Except Conquest is capped, currently sitting at 3300. With costs for the different slots, your mates rocking 220+ gear only have 1-2 weapons plus any combination of 1-2 trinkets or legs/chest/helm/shoulder/wrists/belt. And if they’re close to the cap in spending, they’re waiting every 2 weeks for a new item.

Welcome to how literally every PvPer felt the whole last expansion. We had to grind islands, visions, dailies, M+, etc… so many PvE chores we had to do to get the corruption/essences/azerite levels we needed to PvP effectively. Now when PvPers can get finally geared up well by PvPing the dragon slayers are crying.

We had 2 expansions of gear scarcity. Don’t start

Like, I feel like all the gear for pve is just funneled to the casual players, metric ton of catchup gear, it’s just the heroic and mythic gearing that is pretty poop atm.

Now perhaps If they implemented something to go along with the weekly chest for M raiders, like 3 M bosses killed, get a token to upgrade a heroic piece to mythic, or just below it.

Comes in weekly, it’s easy to plan around, and eases some of that certain item not dropping for you by letting you beef up the heroic version you have.

That’s how I think it should go.

These replies that amount to, we suffered and now it’s your turn to eat it, are petty and dumb. How about a fair and effective gearing system for everyone?

PVP does not deserve to be this rewarding. Ilvls need to stay the same going into next tier.

They are pvp players, they cant help it. They have been complaining since the game came out and ruining PVE since but feel its the PVE player bases fault instead of blizzard.

The big advantage of pvp gearing is when you get an unranked ilvl 200 item and then later you hit a rating of 1800 you can just upgrade that item.

You can’t upgrade normal raid drops to heroic raid drops after defeating the boss and you can’t upgrade a m+7 item to m+15 item either.

I don’t think anyone wants PVP loot to get nerfed, but doing 10’s for mediocre loot & heroic nath & getting 1 piece sucks.

All gearing is bad, including the current pvp gearing iteration.

The only reason pvp gearing is “better” is because of PvE gearing almost entirely being bound to RNG through the vault. You are able to target specific piece with conquest and upgrade those. If the weekly vault did not exist and content actually rewarded your for doing it the scale would be rather even.

If they removed the vault they could also change/remove the “conquest cap.” Conquest has to be capped currently as that would be the ONLY viable gearing strategy if it wasnt.

And just to be clear - PvP gearing currently only nets you a few pieces due to this cap, meaning PvP players HAVE to PvE as well. it isn’t like they’re getting an insane advantage, they’re as shafted as you are by this gearing system.

once you’re chasing the conquest dragon and relying on your weekly vault it’s really bad dude

catching up alts is AWFUL already because the conquest cap is already high and you get very little conquest per win in arena

i have no problem with pvp being rewarding. i do feel like running around in 220s because you hit 1500 is a little… silly.

I mean yes, obviously a perfectly balanced system where both game types get good gearing is of course preferred. But this is Blizz lol they don’t have the best track record of balancing things well.

Wait, so it’s PvPers fault that PvE gear gets nerfed, but when PvP gear gets nerfed it’s just Blizz and PvErs had nothing to do with it? Do you really not see the massive hypocrisy of this statement?

I mean in reality it’s always blizz, no players can change game balance. But Blizz is usually responding to player feedback. So the complaints of both PvErs and PvPers alike do play some role most likely.

Well it’s a good thing it doesn’t work this way then eh? At 1500 you’re getting 207 gear.

Good to see you care about this issue

2 xpacs late tho

but there’s no rng in pvp. And no duplicate drops, they just buy piece by piece

Also bois the trick is to do a combo of pve and pvp

No, not the gear but the talents/ability/balance. It happens all the time. Its usually in direct response to the REEEEE coming from PVP. But your right, thats not really PVPers fault and I can see some hypocrisy there.

Im still bitter about changes to the mana regen from water.

I just sucked it up and joined them man.

They’ve made raids drop less loot, they’ve made M+ much harder than before, drop a lower quantity of loot, and drop drastically reduced quality of loot.

If like they want everyone but mythic raiders and LFR players to abandon PvE and start taking part in PvP.

Looking forward to seeing you all get deleted by Convoke in 2s. May your comps be forever bursty.

Ohh gotcha, misunderstood you then, my mistake.

Yeah I can agree there. Changing class abilities/talents/etc. game wide for PvP reasons is dumb. Just as it’s dumb to nerf/buff classes game wide due to raid performance. This has always been an issue, them making sweeping changes based on issues that only effect a narrow percentage of the game.
