I don’t know much about this game, need help badly.
Just got back into WoW since DF, leveled my usual 4 classes that I get to max level each xpac to 80, and got them all to at least Ilvl 600. Can someone please explain the easiest or most straight forward way to climb the gear ladder now?
Is it just heroic dungeons, Mythic 0 and slowly climb, LFR and then normal mode through group finder?
Or is it quicker to do any of the other billion things i see people saying online and see on the map but have NO CLUE what they are and if spending my time on them is actually worth it. World Quests, this new “hallowfall” (i think its called) region, Delves (Are delves worth doing on my 600 chars & can i quickly get them to at least like 630+ with delves??). World bosses? (where and how do i find world bosses, but also should i even bother?)
So as you’ll see… there’s a LOT of content and i’m a very confused player atm. Please let me know if the things i’ve named are my best bet or if there’s something i haven’t even mentioned that’s a better route. I know max ilvl you can achieve rn is somewhere around 670’ish i believe ?? So i’d be happy getting semi close to that even if with the Great Vault rewards and whatever content i can handle i can climb to ilvl 650 or so. (For reference highest things i’ve ever done are Nomral Mode raid, and Mythic +8.)
For fresh 80’s I recommend going to the Hallowfall zone and doing the dailies/weekly. The event is up on the hour every hour and you can get 2+ pieces of 623+ ilvl gear from it. Each daily has a guaranteed 623+ ilvl reward and the weekly gives you a token to let you pick a piece of 636 ilvl gear.
I’m speaking specifically of the event dailies/weekly. The standard dailies for the zone don’t match that gear ilvl, but the weekly quests across all of the expansion do give good gear.
ok see that sounds like a VERY reasonable next step then!! Hallowfall it is. How specifically do i find this event is it in adventure finder thing like the red book or should i just google it? and when u say up on the hour… so literally every hour i can grab two 623 ilvl pieces ? bc then at that rate in a couple hours i could be much higher than i am currently. Also same question for the weekly , how do i find it? I was in Hallowfall for a few mins before to check it out, and not much was super clear to me. Thank you for reply!!!
I think right now, you could do daily quest at Arathi Hallowfall - the new 11.1.5 faction - it’s 1 weekly and x3 daily quests and I’m pretty sure all daily quests just give you a random Chamption track gear until you get them all without duplicates.
The Sirens Isle Ring you can get it up to 358 in less than an hr, and the same for the 701 belt from OC Delves. Just get the quest n run a lvl 1 oc delve, turn it in n repeat till the belt is 701. Its 3-4 quests i believe, and you can run oc delves unlimited times.
Get the addon HandyNotes especially for TWW and TWW treasures as well as for Dornagal. Will help in a lot of ways.
A super easy way to get at least to 645 ilvl is delves, and world quests. They can open up special assignment WQs that drop chests that give purple gear. Doing both WQs and delves will also give out the mats to upgrade the gear. If you want higher ilvl stuff then you need to do Mythic+.
Ok ok but i could realistically climb to around 645 with just Delves and world quests? and then if i want to continue on from there do like M+ and raids? That sounds like a good track then, i’m gonna do what the first guy said and do hallowfall daily quests and then also run delves inbetween (Is this a reasonable strat??) Thank you all so much for taking time to reply and explain things !
firstly, holy cow that’s awesome lmaoooo ! second, ok then wait should i actually just focus delves & horrific visions also? what about those dastardly duos events? To reach 675 is like basicallly PEAK ilvl in season 2 isn’t it? That’s a dream for me. Hit an ilvl that high and then finally try some arenas & bg’s once im geared like that
Possible as crafting can do this…but the way it’s setup is when you first start you really have to work on getting the crafting skill tree up there to where the mats are gathered in better numbers and the gear/items made are of better quality. If you have the patience that is a great way to go as well.
oh def not the crafting i meant the other ways, crafting has always been a great mystery to me and probably will always remain so . I really am just a semi-casual player, my main goals each xpac are to do the raids on normal mode, and get up to at least like m+6 or higher if i can. After that i do a little pvp for fun here and there and that’s it. LOVE this game, but sometimes the mass amounts of content are confusing !
Horrific visions are probably good to do. I don’t know how long they’re going on. Dastardly duos are easy to the point of boredom. It drops really good gear. I believe it’s going on until next month…? 11.2 is dropping August 15…which starts season three. So as soon as you probably hit your goal a new set of stuff will start which raises the ilvl stuff again.
Not really… pvp gear is set to 681-684 so you’d have to get Mythic level stuff to over-power it from pve gear. And even then if it isn’t versatility heavy like pvp gear is by default then you’d still get stomped with it for the most part.
4 world events that give a cache give keys and those keys are used in bountiful delves (yellow ones on the map). Do those and look for the electified flashing ones as those are overcharged meaning they have additional effects BUT those are largely positive and tie in with a belt that is currently a 701 item level. Delves are insanely easy yet lucrative as hell.
Go to Hallowfall and do the weekly event there for a token that gives a champion track item. Pretty free as well since you don’t need to actually contribute to get the item.
Horrific visions give hero track gear at 4 and 5 masks and are doable easily at lower gear levels with the vision perks unlocked which only takes a few throwaway runs (just run them and clear the end wing bosses to get the currency and buy the upgrade items). The vendors also sell weapons maxing out at hero track for clearing 5 masks which is also pretty easy once you know what you are doing.
Normal raids are stupid babymode easy. Host 1 (you wont get in otherwise) and accept anyone at 635+ ilvl until you got 2 tanks, 3-4 healers, and 12-14 DPS. Any bumbling pug can manage the first 5 bosses with no effort and the 6th is also practically free if the groups manage to not bungle the gimmick mechanic (basically don’t double up on the slot combos).
Or just do whatever for a few weeks when the next patch comes out and gear across the board is reset including what drops from world quests and delves.
