Gear guide for casual players?

Ok hear me out, no hate please. Every guide I’ve found so far has been for people that do Mythic+ and raid Normal and above, and that’s great, I’m glad they have those resources. But are there any gearing guides out there for people who just do normal/heroic dungeons and LFR? I thought I could just convert the gear down to LFR that they recommend, but then I wanted to fill in slots with stuff outside of LFR but all of the recommended gear is from doing Mythic+.

Any suggestions?

Sandworn relics, ZM world quests and conquest gear are probably your best options for filling in slots outside of lfr

Conquest gear can be purchased in oribos for conquest (earned through arenas, rated battlegrounds, random unrated battlegrounds, skirmishes, solo shuffle and weekly pvp quests) and will have a higher ilvl than honor gear. Conquest gear will have high versatility however, but that gear can be converted to pve tier in the catalyst and will have lower or no vers

World bosses during fated raid rotation i think also give higher ilvl?

It’s just guess work, and I’ve actually learned more ‘how to’ on the forum.

If you’re looking at a Best-in-Slot (BiS) guide that tells you exactly what piece of gear to use in every single slot, that’s not really necessary to be honest. That type of guide is for min-maxers, Mythic raiders, and high (20+) Mythic+ players.

For casuals like us who don’t really do much more than LFR except on rare occasions, just writing down your stat priority and choosing pieces of the highest ilvl based on that is enough. The difference between that and trying to match a BiS list…honestly isn’t worth the stress, unless you really enjoy making lists haha. Personally I play too many alts to worry about BiS for all of them, I just use the ilvl+stat priority method and do pretty well for myself.

Also, this close to the end of the expansion, it matters even less. Pretty soon we’ll all be in Dragonflight with our ilvl 350 questing greens, and all of our Shadowlands blues and epics safely sold to vendors without a second thought.

I get that, but it would be nice to have like a list of what’s the maximum I can get, but also options below the best to fill in what doesn’t drop. That’s what WoW used to be like and that’s how I’ve always played it, but Mythic+ gear kinda threw a wrench in that.

get the addon pawn. It helps to know a drop actually upgrades you or not. Yeah, doesn’t help you plan from scratch but will show you if that WQ drop is worth pursuing

Cypher grind. The end

Honestly, I wouldn’t even bother. All gear you get is gonna get replaced in a little over a month.

Its kinda late right now, but you can ZM to 252 gear with research, world bosses for 285 gear… relics for 242 gear… or even mythics 0 for 262 gear they are pretty easy just start your own group

do pvp

conquest base items (unranked) is 275 in pve content (scaling up to 288 in pvp)
fully upgraded honor gear is 268 in pve content so its prob better than most stuff that can come from lfr.

Usually there’s something to grind in the pre expansion event.

this is any fated world boss so it changes week to week. the adventure guide wont tell you that though so people prob don’t realize the old ones that are fated have relevant 285 gear.

Sir, this is a Wendy’s.

m+ this week is great just do 4 m+ and get a ilvl 291 item. Make a group for m0 get your keys then do m+2 carry just post looking for carry and get the people with high raiderio and gear to carry you. After each run go back to orbis and down level your key to +2. Just do 4 dungeons and you are done.

You could buy 262 cloth shoulders from the auction house, they are called “Shadowlace Mantle” and you can only equip one at the 262 ilvl for now.

you could also go the P2W route… buy lots of wow tokens and then buy raid drop boes
