Ive never played through an entire expansion and im gonna try it with war within. I also want to play as an earthen. So my goal is to take a particular dwaven pally of mine to max level before the war within and afterwards do only what I need to do to unlock the earthen, whatever that is. Then from there use a boost to get him to 70 with the same class as i was just playing.
Question is, is there any gear thats BiS that I could farm with my dwarven pally now to give my new Earthen pally so i can just hit the floor running? I do understand there’ll be a level difference from 60 to 70 but It would be better than the default gear they give me right?
The current 70 boost comes with 424 gear, and expansion squish usually takes power out of higher ilevel gear, so I’m not convinced that gear that is very high level now will do much beter than regular mid-level gear you can get easily.
There will be gear that is Warbound Until Equipped, but that doesn’t drop yet, so while some of that may be possible to farm in TWW, you can’t farm it yet.
You can buy one 454 armor piece with 100 Dreamsurge Coalescence, https://www.wowhead.com/beta/item=207026/dreamsurge-coalescence#currency-for in the Dreamsurge, and AFAIK that is not going away, so if you farm 1500 or so, you could buy the armor tokens and send them all to your Earthen. Rings and trinks are kinda random, so there is room for getting unusable duplicate rings or trinks.
That’s my only current idea. Maybe someone keeping up closely with beta would know more.
Heck yeah dude this sounds wayyy easuer than i thought it was going to be. This will be my goal until further notice. Ive never done raids and i wanna get into it so im going to focus on what i need to do to get there. Thanks for the info!

Starting with a new expansion is helpful in getting to this goal! Gear you have while leveling might make leveling a little less painful, but the real gear grind is going to be done when you reach max level. It will be doing heroic then mythic dungeons before the raid tier opens, then getting into raid groups. If you can start with a guild leveling up and get to max level about the same time as all of them it will be easier than if you’re a week or two later. Generally everyone on the raid team will help each other level and gear in anticipation of going into the raid. Since you’re starting with a new race, it will take you longer to get ready since you’ll have to open up the race first, and we don’t know what that’s going to take yet. You may want to consider opening the race and then race changing your current paladin rather than releveling. That way you keep all the gear you’ve earned on a character you want to play.
So it turns out a lvl 70 boost will get your character 424 lvl gear… or i could farm coalesence every 30 minutes for 30 more points per item. I may just farm the coalesence for the pets and mount and skip the gear for now.
Thanks for the replies here. I cannot wait to play as the earthen, i just hate knowing (just like in Return to Moria) I’m gonna end up seeing female dwarfs with beards…
