Gear durability and pvp question

I’ve noticed my gear occasionally loses some durability from pvp only. This is not supposed to occur is that correct ? Or are there some aspects that do such as
engineering grenades>

You dont lose durability from dying in pvp but you do lose durability when you take damage

gear loses some random durability from being hit, be it pve or pvp. always been this way. you only lose the flat 10% to all gear on deaths in pve, not pvp.

this is odd because during a loading screen there is a tip that says “Items will not take durability loss when killed by an enemy player”

Yeah when you die you don’t take durability loss but you do when you get hit or use your weapons.
