GDKP are just the start and its the main and easy way for gold sellers to launder the money.
While its not an issue atm, Boosting will become the new way to level. The way boosting works is a party of 4 pays the mage ( almost always done by a mage ) to clear the zone for them as they soak the exp. while sitting pretty much afk. The side effect of boosting is once everyone has their main to level 60, its near impossible to find groups for dungeons level RFC ( level 14ish ) to Mauradon ( level 48ish ). With no dungeon finder you may never see a Wailing Cavers group, Scarlet Monastery, etc. At 50 to 60 dungeons tanks will sell their services and you have the option to pay for it or spend countless hours trying to make a group. Once mages get enough gear, maybe less is needed due to runes in SoD, they will sell boosts in ZG.
Now once you hit end game, bots and gold sellers will flood areas to gather all the resources needed for raiding consumables thus making is extremely hard to near impossible to farm yourself and will be required by most raid leaders.
Black Lotus: Used in Flasks, sold for over 100 gold each in classic
Plague Bloom: Mainly used for Mongoose pots for physical damage dealers. A stack of 5 Mongoose pots were selling for 50-100 gold per stack of 5
Mountain Silversage: Used in several main raid pots sold for 20-60 gold a stack.
Devilsaur Leather: Used in Devilsaur Legs and gloves, will be perma camped by hunters who can easily solo. Gloves usually go for 150 gold and legs 300 gold. These will be perma camped by gold sellers.
Arcanite: Crystals about 40 gold each and transmutes 10-20 gold each. If you have plans to make Thunderfury the legendary 1H sword you will need 100 of them.
Classic had no daily quests and gold on average for someone who played a lot ( non GDKP or Boosting ), like 30+ hours a week were lucky to earn 100-200 gold per week w/o getting lucky on nice BoE item to sell. There are some exceptions to this pending on trade skills / trying to control the AH / gather professions or crafting. This is what the future will look like, just like it was in Classic.
Your entire post reads like you’re a doomsayer trying to warn us the end is nigh.
Sorry to tell you buddy, but you’re too late. The end is already here. GDKPs have been around for over a decade on Private Servers and 5 years on Classic WoW.
Boosting has also been around for all five years of Classic WoW. Yes, that’s exactly how it works. It’s not new. It’s not fresh or exciting. Boosting Services have always been a thing. Most players do not purchase them. Some do. The world moves on.
And yeah, bots and gold sellers are already flooding all end game areas right now in SoD. And they will continue to do so in later Phases.
I dunno man, I feel like you’re really, really late to this boat.
EDIT: This post reads like…
“GUYS! I HEARD SOMEONE IS GOING TO SET FIRE TO OUR BASE!”
Meanwhile, the fire is already burning behind you.
Every single thing you just listed has no effect on anyone if you just make friends and join a guild. Like you would never even think about this stuff.
Pugs deserve to get filtered. It exposes you for the tourists you are!
An amazing insightful post that took some extreme thought to put into. Well said, well said … /clap
Many players are experiencing vanilla/classic for the first time in SoD and have no idea what the end game looks like.
I guess with your thought provoking insight and deep wisdom on what is already known these message boards wouldn’t bother posting about GDKPs, like you said nothing new and everyone knows about them. Right? Oh wait, these boards are flooded by either new or disillusioned players seeing the gravity of what the game is or is quickly becoming.
I guess with all this insightful information we already knew about battlegrounds being dominated by premades vs pugs like it was 20 years ago in vanilla? Right? Oh wait, since enough people are flooding these boards with posts it has caught the developers eye that they are discussing it on twitter / X . Im sure if they kept quiet the possible changes would of still happened? Right?
One thing is for certain, if the wheel squeaks loud enough it gets the oil.
Ahh the Elitist approach and luckily for you I did play in the top guilds since this game came out starting in Elitist Jerks on Malganis. Would you like to know how the elite players get their raid consumables? That’s right, they buy gold. This was rarely the case at first in Vanilla but as time went on people didnt want to spend the time to farm them against the competition which would require more time. As you know, being in a top tier guild is a full time job.
I said nothing about a top tier. Join a dad parsing 50 guild. Dads dont buy gold lol and if they do it’s like 20 bucks or their wives find out. The entire rmt scene is based around friendless and guidless pugs. Even the big gdkps will cut out oilers when they just wanna raid with the boys. If your around these type of rmt players all the time, there’s only one common factor.
You’ll have a great time if you just join some dads but that would require you to be social. Hmmm quiet the dilemma.
We need to end this NOW. Perma-Ban GDKP’s, Boosting, Botting, Gold buying and gold selling. Report anyone participating in this cheating on your servers. MAKE Blizzard address this issue with reports…lots of reports.
Be the squeaky wheel by reporting GDKP, Boosting, Botting, Gold Selling, and Gold Buying EVERY SINGLE TIME you see it. Make Blizzard address the issue properly by Perma-banning the cheaters and removing all transactions made with RMT gold.
So it can be tracked in every way? That is good to know that its so easily tracked that gold sellers don’t exist or maybe they buy the gold then get gold handed or mailed to them with the message of something like " Great job pumping the DPS at that last raid, here is your cut".
It’s a form of “laundering” by giving RMT cheaters a way to spend RMT transactions. It allows that cheat gold to be earned through GDKP by other cheaters that KNOW what they’re getting but choose to run GDKP’s anyway.
If GDKP went “away”…gold buyers would have far less “things” to buy with their cheater RMT gold. And the cheaters that participate in GDKP to receive cheater RMT gold would be far less likely to play in GDKP’s. This would be a huge step in eliminating the bots and gold sellers from the game.
Laundering = Distribution of RMT gold into the market in a much more efficient way than before GDKP.
I guess this means you cannot use the AH then, because there’s RMT gold there too. Have fun selling every item/mat you find in trade chat, because if you use the AH then you are 100% a hypocrite
Are you seriously trying to convince us that gold is useless in the game?
LMAO…I’ve been on here all day and this is the single most hilarious defense of GDKP I’ve read yet!
I had a guy defend botting earlier but this…this is seriously bad.
C’mon…you know your cheating if you buy RMTgold. You know you’re cheating if accept bought RMTgold. GDKP are simply a way for people to cheat at the game. Whales get to RMT equipment and poor people get to cheat by helping the whales and getting RMTgold through GDKP.
This isn’t hard to understand. People are trying to justify cheating in any way they can. It’s sad.
