GDKPs are Cancer

A malignant presence that springs forth, and when left unchecked grows in size until it causes serious and dramatic health problems for the thing it infests, until it ultimately kills the host?

GDKPS may not be real world cancer, but they certainly qualify as the WoW version.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… This is one area FF14 is miles ahead of Blizzard on… paid boosts, paid carries, and GDKPS are absolutely destructive forces that need to be purged. The entire premise of the MMO game design is to be played and overcome socially, not transactionally or monetarily. You can’t expect a healthy or sustainable community when anything beyond solo play is effectively commodified.

You guys want to know why most people do GDKP? It’s because we got tired of guild politics. So many of us are sick and tired of crappy players being fed gear every week because they were friends with the GM. Raiding in guilds have no meaning now. It’s the same as it was 11 years ago friends helping other friends nothing has changed. A lot of us are sick and tired of playing with selfish players. Why deal with all of this bull when I can join a gdkp run make gold while raiding and buy your gear that you don’t deserve at the same time. There’s no incentive to join a raiding guild when gdkp is 100% more better.

This is an argument against GDKPs, not for them. GDKP runners are literally so entitled and selfish that they won’t show up to a raid unless they’re personally receiving gear, or getting directly paid by the people that do.

As for the concerns with GMs (and by the sounds of it Loot Councils), Regular DKP systems let you accrue points for actually putting in effort, instead of just swiping your credit card… I’d add, having been involved in 3 different “LC” based systems in 3 different guilds in classic and SoM, it’s a pretty sizable pain in the butt trying to hand gear out without ruffling any feathers, fwiw.

You can say that about all pug raids. Rolling for items and letting it be chosen randomly doesn’t encourage cooperation at all.

This is a problem with gold buying not GDKPs. Focus on the cause not the symptoms. Treating one symptom won’t fix the cause.

In my experience, players who hate gdkps are the ones who show up to raids with no consumes, not specced properly, always performing poorly and bumming consumes off people. Usually mad because they aren’t invited due to their low performance or the fact they arent carried for gear for free.

Most players need to understand TBC raids are incredibly easy. Just gear and group up, GDKPs will stop once people stop feeding them.

But then again, WoW players will monetize everything about the game. Then crap on blizzard for monetizing services. I say they just offer Classic WoW tokens, if GDKPs aren’t an issue, tokens wouldn’t be either.

This applies to every raid regardless of loot system.

Yep, and then Wrath launches with Darkmoon cards going for 50k+ because of the massive amount of gold people stockpiled up from GDKPs and RMT.

Screws over the normal playerbase that actually doesn’t cheat.

So the problem is RMT not GDKP’s.

Pro tip darkmoon cards don’t even drop in raids.

Most of the gold from GDKPS is RMT. If GDKPs weren’t looking for green/blue geared buyers with fresh bought gold it wouldn’t be an issue.

All that gold isn’t exclusive to raiding.

No it’s not.

Exactly, people aren’t using RMT just for GDKP’s.

You are coped out of your mind.

Just because you earned gold from a GDKP and used it another, doesn’t mean the gold in the first place wasn’t RMT. It’s dirty gold being passed around like candy

People lie about how they earn gold. Sorry, GigachadrogueX didn’t earn his gold through playing the auction house, or farming teracone or farming strat.

He bought it, or earned it from other people who bought gold

How many GDKP’s do you actually do?

You assuming I can’t get into one as an Ele shaman with parses?

I did several in p2 and earned more gold in that 2hrs of raiding then I did farming gold for several hours on alts.

That’s not a good thing.

Why not? Did you actually see any item go for more than what that item reasonably should go for?

A few thousand for a BiS item is not unreasonable or outside the range of what can easily be gotten without RMT.

whine more

I’ll use one run as an example on the last week of p2

Belt of 100 deaths went for over 40k+

Talon went for over 12k+

Vashj healing mace went for over 5k+

Nexus Key went for 30K+

All the t5 tier went for over 1.5k+ each

At the end of that run, I made a 3300* payout

The amount of gold I earned from doing netherstorm on my hunter alt:
2.2k which took 4-5 hours to do

For the record, I think GDKPs runs are a great concept and getting paid to raid is a great idea. But the gold passed around is considerably inflated thanks to years of RMT

Uhhh sure bud.

Yeah the game isnt hard.

Guess what is though?

Player awareness . Player reaction time. Grouping with slow tanks and healers or scared noob dps is NOT fun.

Get the money!
