GDKP was a start. Now disable combat logging

Parsing is an overall negative on the community that serves no purpose but an ego boost and gatekeeping players. Game would be more fun without it

So many based threads today.

I like where the forum’s head is at right now.

More fun for whom?

I get the feeling combat logging isn’t going anywhere. Even if they remove the Advanced Combat Data feature from the game people will just use ACT like they do with FFXIV to upload to Warcraft Logs.

I absolutely gatekeep players from the groups I put together if you have all grey parses. Had a rogue tell me he was a “big DPS pumper”

Turns out over 5 different BFD runs he had never parsed anything other than greys. I genuinely think if he just stood there autoing the boss it would have done more

People who can live their lives without a dopamine slap from a coloured number that has no actual indicator of wether youre good at the game or not.

Yup. And being a FFFXIV main it’s more toxic than any other way

Every time I see someone describe themself in LFG as a pumper, chad, big ####, godlike, etc, I have been checking logs as a curiosity and almost all are 25th or lower best average parse

if you arent playing to do better or improving on your previous runs , why are you playing?

i mean i guess if you have no problem wasting 9-39 other peoples time or whatever thats fine for you, but what about the people who have to run with you?

seriously why not try and improve with logs instead of asking for them to be banned?

i want to play wow , not ff.

But it does indicate if you are good at the game or not. If you are doing 25dps, then you are clearly not good at the game.

Explain to me why I should not care if someone is playing their class wrong and not pulling their weight in raid? Logs will absolutely not be removed just because you aren’t playing your class right. It takes 30 minutes to figure out how your class works by reading skills or a rotation guide somewhere. Stop being lazy and work on improving yourself.

Even as a super sweaty parse-andy, I wouldn’t mind logging going away, but you’re not giving this a fair shake. GDKP is akin to gambling, where logs are just extraction of information.

People expecting and feeling entitled to getting a free ride through raids so they can get welfare/free epics is the real problem. Instead of looking for a guild or group that wants to play the way you want, you instead want to force those who want to work harder to have to carry people who simply don’t want to put in the same amount of effort.

I don’t think parse culture or logs are going anywhere, just play ff14 if you want an mmo with no parse culture, they hate that noise over there

It’s not going anywhere, if it is, well use raider io in sod instead. These thing exist for a reason, it’s because enough people had really bad experiences with bad players. Top end, full of buffs raiding with a tight core group is literally the intended way to play wow. If it wasn’t those things, they wouldn’t get most the dev time.

Its almost like all that number does is supply you a performance percentage based off other people playing the same class/spec. Its almost as if the thing its doing is exactly what you’re saying it isn’t lol.

Like you have to understand, most of these people aren’t denying you because you’re not orange/pink. They’re denying you because you’re GRAY. I don’t think I’ve ever denied a green/blue/purple in SoD nor would I ever, but gray is auto denied.

Like the only way to parse gray is to
1: Not have your pre-bis
2. Not press your buttons even remotely “correctly.”

Prime example of the last couple of hunters/rogues I was like “nah” on.

Gray parses and didn’t even have simple things like warsong boots or defkin belt.
These things almost always coincide. People with grays just put zero effort into the game and then just expect to be taken along on other people’s raids. Bro I’m not trying to spend an hour or more in BFD. It’s a 30 minute or less raid. Literally all the knowledge you need is on wowhead or your class discord. Learn the fights, learn your class, and come prepared. Or just don’t… but don’t complain when people don’t invite you.

Parse culture isn’t the problem. Entitlement is the problem.

Lol, the choice to make it bannable was a start… but they have to actually enforce it; with their pathetic track record and current customer service… I don’t think they’ll be very effective at it. Plus, will it be a positive or negative… that’s something we have to wait and see.

Yea, where I think I suck and have all high blue and a couple epic…

funny how the “WAH PARSES BAD” crowd never post from a toon with logs for the version of the game they are playing  i wonder why that might be
