GDKP - The Correct Way To Think About Them

its very sad indeed. They stopped caring about us players a long time ago!!!

Yeah. I think among other factors it’s due to the people at Blizzard changing over time. Very few are left from the late 90s/early 2000s when they made some of their best games. Those people had a real passion for quality. The people there now, at least the ones in charge, seem to be much more concerned about maximizing profits.

yeah its not ran by the founders anymore real quick off topic

Would you consider this “spam”

"Let’s stay focused on the main issue at hand: the current state of Feral DPS needs attention!

Please refrain from posting off-topic remarks that derail the discussion!!!"

Would I consider that spam within the context of this thread? I mean yeah talking about feral DPS is pretty unrelated to GDKP discussions. Although spam has more to do with repeating a similar message an unnecessary amount of times.

No that was posted in a Feral dps post. i just copied the text of the post here. to get your opinion.

Oh. Yeah no then I wouldn’t consider that spam unless it was posted repeatedly.

No, the post was made after people kept derailing the thread with off-topic discussions about warriors and other irrelevant things. The original post was reported as spam, but Blizzard restored it and removed the off-topic comment. So, I’ll take the minor loss for the bigger win.”

Banning GDKPs is the reason SoD died after level 25.

Banning GDKPs was a great move by Blizzard. It reduced toxicity and eliminated the pay-to-win system. Now, it’s not about who can swipe their card the most.

I want to see you maintain that same energy with the AH. It’s a system that encourages gold buying, one of the OGs of it. It enables players to access strong early gear, especially in any fresh version like after a launch of game mode, enables bots to flood the market with low priced bot farmed materials, and allows sellers to sell their gold through it to buyers.

You won’t though, because it’s not about RMT, it’s about hating gdkps.

Strong gear that they have to be lucky to get it drop to sell!!! That isnt nearly as bad as GDKPs

yeah it’s great. just kiss up to a raidleader and his girlfriend and all of the officers to get a 1:8 shot at your bis loot. if you dont mind waiting for 3 months then it’s basically free. 3 months, that’s what I hear. members that dutifully wait 3 months to get anything. great stuff. 3 hour raids with the worst of the worst in every way, for free loot. the loot is free! Free loot that just costs all of your time and lockouts and you have to farm dungeons for raid consumes on the side.

Banning GDKP is way less toxic than having the freedom to decide who you raid with on any day that you want and spending a universal currency that represents the widest possible variety of activities. Blizz only had to add an entirely separate dungeon currency to SoD that awarded impossibly cheap raid consumes, prebis equips, and recipes in order to make raiding possible in an economy where most people are raid logging.

Yeah, it’s a really great system. way less toxic than a genuine market economy where players have to take part in a living eco-system of trade and organizational effort. the most Toxic thing to a SOD player is having to play the game. this is why blizz has done everything in their power to make it so SoD players can play the game as little as possible.

You truly go on some wild rants, like anyone replying is an opportunity for you to go on a tangent about how your experience in 1 of many loot systems was bad. It’s like telling someone there is a cute dog and they start talking about how much they hate animal activists.

Well, I think he’s upset they banned pitbulls from the dog park, while the crazy chihuahua biting everyone is still allowed.

Crafting doesn’t exist I guess.

Ignore the other two points as well I guess.

Just more anti gdkp cope. If it was about RMT you’d still agree that the AH is also a major contributor, but you aren’t and are exclusively attacking gdkps because it’s not about RMT, it’s about hating gdkps.

because finding a non toxic raid group is hard!!!

Crafting requires farming and playing the game. Gdkps require swiping the plastic raid logging.

I’d say the point you might be missing is that while chihuahuas can certainly be aggressive, the impact of their bite is significantly less than that of a pitbull. Having untrained, aggressive dogs in a public space is not good for anybody and people need to control their dogs, but in the event that an incident occurs, having it occur with a pitbull will have far more drastic consequences.

Nuance tents to get overlooked in these types of arguments, especially when an a defense of “fairness” is made. I get it, you don’t want to lose your toy, but maybe that toy is doing more harm than good at this point.

You can buy mats off the AH, it’s not exclusively farming.

Speaking of mats that’s also the second point I drew, which is bots flooding the market with mats, via the AH.

It’s weird you’ve only focused on the one of three examples how the AH is a contributor, one of the reasons being pretty big, but you focused specially on crafted gear because it was the weakest of my argument and nothing else.

If this was about RMT, you should logically be against the AH, but you aren’t, because it’s not about RMT, it’s about hating gdkps.

Bots may never be completely eradicated, but there are several methods to significantly impede them:

  1. Implement region locks on servers (as 90% of the bots/RMT do not live in the region they are playing on)
  2. Establish servers with anti-VPN measures (to reinforce region locking).
  3. Begin permanent IP bans for bots and real-money trading (RMT) as another method to enforce the first two solutions.
  4. Associate all accounts with real ID/IP addresses (though this may affect a small portion of the player base).
