GDKP is the Superior loot system (Change my mind)

Genuinely, why can’t people spend their gold how they want? I am biased as I am a fan of the GDKP system because I feel the pros outweigh the cons and is the superior raid loot distribution method. I am inviting opposing views to perhaps convince me otherwise, but I will briefly outline the pros/cons for me with GDKP’s.

Pros: (to name a few)

  • More Alt Friendly
  • Can get right into raids at max level
  • Personally, more community involvement for me. More raids, more players, etc
  • More gold for raid consumes/other endeavors
  • Less botting/RMT because players get gold from raids, no need to swipe.
  • On average better players in the raids/Stronger Vetting Process (Poor performers not invited/no cut, etc.)
  • Consolation Prizes (Gold)
  • Removes RNG element when obtaining loot
  • More flexible raiding schedule
  • 1-2 people don’t “win” when a hr drops / the entire raid “wins” when a good item drops. ALL loot is exciting

Cons:

  • No need for a guild
  • More discord driven
  • Truthfully can’t think of others

Again, these are my opinions and I am open to hearing opposing view points. With only the weekly guild run available and the only other options for alts is very toxic “Everything good HR” runs where performance doesn’t really matter. I don’t want to rant too much but with GDKP’s I play wow like 20hrs+ per week, without, it’s like 3-4hrs per week. I am writing this after running some 20 man content with nothing HR on anniversary and it was MISERABLE. People just not pressing their buttons, complete bot like behavior, etc. Those kinds of things that never happened in a GDKP. People fall in line and do what’s needed.

Thanks for your opinions on the topic.

Honestly there isn’t much more to say over all the stuff that has been said in the many many many threads created since the ban happened.

I don’t have an issue with GDKP in theory. It isn’t a raid style I would choose to interact with, but if others want to do it it’s fine by me.

What is strange to me, as a GDKP outsider, is that I’ve read repeatedly that good GDKPs were run through discords, with a great community and good vetting. It seems odd to me that a community of good players with a strong social network decided collectively to not play with each other once the incentive of guaranteed reward was removed.

Exactly, and if it takes part mostly on Discord, and still does (some claim), then the only thing they are up in arms about is not being able to advertise in trade?

LFM need buyers!!!

The major pros, as I see it at least, are:

  • A reason to continue raiding on fully geared characters
  • Ability to prioritize gear that you want, regardless of specialization
  • Individual player agency

The cons:

  • GDKP Derangement Syndrome

I’m gonna sum up 99.99% of the people who post here and other places about the evils of gdkp. Heres the reasons they don’t like gdkp:

  • They can’t rely on rng to win items over players who perform better than them(is it a coincidence that the same people who hate gdkp also hate LC since it rewards high performers?
  • GDKP’s that are organized have a minimum parse requirement to join that they cannot meet, this leads to them becoming angry at “sweats”. What a coincidence these same people also hate speedrunners and high parsers.
  • They hate the idea of people getting rewarded for playing the game more. This is because they are envious of people who can play as much/as often as they want. Coincidently they also hate people who make their living off of playing the game for the same reason.
  • They watched a youtuber/streamer(who they hate) who made a click bait video about how bad rmt in gdkp was so now they have clinged on to that because they lack the ability to critical think for themselves. Now that anniversary is the most botted and rmt heavy version to ever exist they have now swapped to the hivemind “guild structure” reason for the ban.
  • They are contrarian trolls who just come here to post everyday about gdkp to bait replies(frosstfire and ripsod). They don’t actually believe anything they type, they just come here to try and cause as much fighting as possible.

I have never met an anti gdkper on the forums or elsewhere I would actually want to play with in wow or any other game because honestly they are just WoW Karens obsessed with what their neighbors(other players) are doing.

It was far superior. Gold buyers WILL exist always no matter what and we still see that now.

GDKPs were great once geared you join as a carry and line that pocket for mounts, consumes, or w/e else for alts. It was a GREAT part of the game.

HR runs pretty much didnt exist. SR runs still did. MS/OS runs still existed. GDKP didnt take away from others gameplay. It was a waaaaaay better system.

This is the big one, is a reason to raid on a fully geared character. Try running a 20 man raid in anniversary right now. Group won’t find an off-tank, you will have less than average mage DPS, and will have shadow priests “Trying” to heal. Where are all the r14 warriors and healers? Offline or afk in SW waiting for Tuesday reset to raid because there’s no incentive to play the game.

GDKP is just better full stop. @Volbriamonk makes a lot of good points too. It’s a few WoW Karens ruining the fun for literally everyone else.

There are several active threads discussing GDKP. Please confine additional discussions to those instead of creating a new thread. Thank you.
