GD - Transmogging being developed again!

Something interesting about this recent topic on CC is the following point:

Your current “issue” of looting pieces of non-primary items for transmogging, can this be turned into a solution for Legacy Raiding? Making us able to collect transmogs cross-classes?

I don’t think Devs will ever do that kind of QoL because that kills a lot of the RNG aspect (hamster wheel) in this game for collectors, its the same with some bad luck protection for some cosmetics, a lot of collectors in the playerbase asked for ways to obtain some progress for each attempt, not the item in the mail at the next day but actual progress after each attempt.

I wish Devs added a way to earn other type of armor transmogs on any run, besides that regarding transmog, Devs should remove Rings/Necks,Trinkets from the loot table if you select a specific “Transmog” type of run for legacy content.

Also in the same topic of transmog, Devs should update some features like BMAH which function like a “bad luck protection” for a lot of items, however; there’s some items there that shouldn’t be part of the loot table, like the Ordos Neck pieces.

I hope Devs enable WoD/MoP legendary questlines as requested by CC members : Legendaries (MoP and WoD)

That’ll benefit new / returning players to see some missing questlines with interesting lore and help other players by removing items from the BMAH which could lead to a better rotation of items.

Does the community agree with CC member about learning other tmogs independent of your armor type? At least from my point of view, any change that reduce the time for collecting items could be a big improvement.

What other changes would you like to see regarding transmog acquisition?

I don’t feel strongly about this either way. If it happens, cool. If not, meh, okay.

What I would really love is being able to transmog armor slots instead of the armor itself.

Totally agree with that point, I did a thread about trasnmog cost before and that’s a great idea, so we don’t have to transmog again each time we got an upgrade.

Misleading and click-bait title. Zzz…

waste of time and resources IMO.
…and we already had to deal with enough garbage from the people who were scared to step into a BG for a singular quest.

People ask for the devs to modify loot tables of legacy raids all the time. Seemingly not realizing that it’s the last thing they’d ever consider doing. Both because it’s a complete waste of dev time, and because having all those items as potential drops means that players are likely to have to keep coming back to farm that stuff for a while (unless they’re very lucky).

The same goes with collecting stuff for other armor types. I would be incredibly surprised if either thing was ever implemented.

The Transmog > Greed roll is a nice addition, though.

As an option, I would like this, but it definitely shouldn’t replace being able to transmog different sets of gear differently.

Me too, that’s the thing with RNG, it’s one of the tools that Devs use to keep players engage even when some cases cause just frustation among players.

Why not make it possible to collect the transmog for any BOP piece that goes in your bags, regardless of the armor type. Armor type will still count when equipping that transmog, it’s just the collecting of it that should ignore the armor type.

I don’t see blizz adding this, but what they could do is have an option to turn unusable items into BoA “shards” and after you’ve gotten the drop so many times on characters that can’t use it you can re assemble the item on the toons that can with the shards

I also like that trial of style introduced ensembles, be fun if each raid had a vendor that sells ensemble of the gear and you get currency once a week for running the raid on a certain difficulty. So if you run mythic tombs of sargeras and it takes you 9 weeks to get the mage cloth appearance you have enough currency by that point to buy the mythic dk ensemble for your plate or something

I think i have every usable item by paladin from dragon soul heroic except the paladin tier belt, and it drops every single time i run DS on a non plate. Its so unfun running DS on my pally for just the belt and not only does it never drop, no other item is ever a new appearance :rage:

Practically, you mentioned some good bad luck protection ideas, however; Devs use a lot of time sinks regarding cosmetics, In my opinion the game doesn’t value player times regarding those kind of goals…Sure Dragon Flight doesn’t have a bunch of borrowed power for the end game but the legacy content its barely touched by Devs. Let’s keep the carrot in the stick.

I guess thats where my endgame vision differs from a lot of rpg players

To me the fun part is having the completed armour and being able to afk in a city with it or go into a bg and feel :sunglasses:
I get no joy or adrenaline rush or whatever from chasing the drops themselves. I abhor rng :joy: i started pvping in tbc and wotlk because everything was deterministic, and relying on rng in pve made no sense to me

I liked mage tower type things because you were guaranteed the mog for completing it

I’d love to go back to more determinisitc options for mounts, transmog and progress items but you’ll find a lot of players with a mentailly in favor of wasting their time.

Shadowland S4 had dinar system that you can target items after doing some bosses, that could be in game for M+, Raid instead of the vault that’s just a RNG element, same for mounts like love rocket…Devs just needed to add an increase % each time you kill it or a currency as bad luck…Legacy could have a system like you mentioned, I think I got the shoulders from Garrosh in a non-plate class…

True, that’s the best kind of content, MT now is evergreen challenge and it’s 100% deterministic.

Is this about the Children’s week event?
This was the right thing to do. You may not like it but this is a change which was over a decade overdue.

And people asking for some sort of FF14-progress is a valid point. A person shouldn’t be sitting more than +100 attempts to get their desired mount or transmog gear. These are almost two years worth of a sub.

You’ll find that’s difficult to discuss progress towards a goal compared to handouts with some players…they don’t think about the difference on both cases, when some players would like to see progress mechanics so each attempt is a valid step for your next goal.

no.
it was for the MoP cloak.
one of the criteria was to win Silvershard Mines.

and the Childrens Week requirement was fine.
anyone who actually tried was able to get it done.

I do not care for some silly children who got their desired item by pure luck or have grinded for something for years. It’s a digital item with no real value but within the game. And the game needs to keep up with other MMOs and make things better for everyone. What most people forget is that this will benefit the no-sayers as well and they will be able to progress on things they haven’t even thought about in the past. It’s a win/win situation for everyone involved.

I remember doing it and I do agree that these were easy back then, because we were Horde. I do not want Alliance-only players to suffer because due bad faction balancing going forward, if the cloak will ever return with the quests.

I wonder what´s the issue with this BG quest, if Devs can remove it, the important part of this questline is the dialogues between the player and wrathion, specifically when you killed Lei Shen and Wration asked for his heart
