The next expansion is supposed to be the final expansion, they announced that awhile ago. Although, I don’t know if things have changed now with the recent acquisition of the game by Microsoft.
I tried to find the announcement again, but couldn’t find it. Maybe they are going to see how Dragonflight goes. I read the announcement from Activision, about a year ago.
EDIT: LOL, because spell check transformed ‘acquisition’ into ‘Inquisition’. I suppose Microsoft might be the Inquisition… but I’m not sure. 
I’m enjoying the game because it is built on more than a decade of expansions. There are always past things I’ve never done and new things with each expansion. I look at what the game offers and pick and choose where I want to spend my time. No hurry, no pressure, no go go go, just having fun with small goals such as mounts or mogs or just taking in the scenery or savoring the mini-stories along the way.
I have all my WoW characters and their distinct stories and personalities to keep me company within the game as well as friends on the forums and my amazing wife to share all that I need. I’m sad others feel abandoned and sincerely hope this changes for them.

I’m surprised they didn’t end it with Shadowlands, but I heard from a youtuber that Dragon Isles was supposed happen after BC, I think it would of fit better after WoLK or after Cataclysm.
If DF is the last expansion, it’s too bad they didn’t do a void/light expansion.

I’ve heard just the opposite that they have expansions laid out about three in advance. I seriously doubt Microsoft paid billions for an intellectual property about to do it’s farewell performance.
And even when the last expansion finally happens, they could leave the game up and running for years. I believe we’ll be fine. I have no interest in learning a new game and re-creating more than 15 years of head canon.

Incidentally aside from the Eyes this Alicorn resembles Cozy Glow in Coloration.
Furthermore the horn glow and voice resembles that of Chrysalis and her dialogue resembles Tirek so if the three have merged into one then things will be interesting as that means the Villains have taken the whole work together to the next level.
They couldn’t tolerate friendship(Cozy due to being a Sociopath, Tirek due to thinking that Friendship is chains and Chrysalis due to fearing the potential loss of her horn and wings) and so the only way to work more closely would be to merge into one entity.
A Changeling, Immortal Centaur and Pegasi hybrid in otherwords. Capable of surviving the loss of Magic(Centaurs and Pegasi don’t need magic to survive) for centuries(since Starswirl sealed him away Tirek survived without Magic for centuries).
I’m sure this hybrid has witnessed the demises of countless aides over the centuries due to her immortality that surpasses a traditional Alicorn’s immortality(due to not needing Magic to sustain it).
Incidentally we have no info on the origins of Unicorns or Pegasi so Hybrid fusions like this one may infact be the norm.
Edit: Just realized that the old G5 Concept of there being Multiple Worlds might happen after all just with the Changeling/Centaur/Pegasi Hybrid’s offspring being the new World’s Races.
Imagine a new breed of Changeling that looks identical to Unicorns(which might very well be the Alicorn’s assistant’s species) existing alongside Flutter Ponies, Kirin and Centaurs(winged, bug-like, both or neither)!
The Feywild in otherwords.
Their Feywild would be consuming the old World’s Magic naturally.
Of course once that World’s ruler is defeated and Magic is allowed to develop in Equestria’s World and the Feywild the stage might be set for more Worlds being discovered including a Water World and a Dragon Pony World!

As long as Microsoft is making money from it, we’ll nelfys trolls gnomes panda and forsaken will still be running around having a blast

An expansion where they finish dangling plot lines wouldn’t be bad (isn’t there a big old sword sticking in sithilus)
Wouldn’t mind an expansion where they re-establish Darnassus or Undercity
Of course if they ever have an invasion of Stormwind, u’ll find me and Cyn having a picnic on one of the eastern hills (we’ll have lots of popcorn )
