Kingdom Hearts Spoilers
With how the Nightmares and Spirits work in Kingdom Hearts I’m starting to suspect that the reason Spirits can turn Nightmares into Light and Vanitas feels a connection to Ventus is due to the natures of Darkness, Sin and Light!
The Power Bangle when it claims Sin grants large amounts of Light while apparently bolstering the Darkness. Considering Nightmare feed on good Dreams I suspect that Sin feeds on Light and Darkness feeds on Sin!
Vanitas when separated from Ventus had Ventus’s Sin included which meant that some of Ventus’s Light was trapped in the Sins within Vanitas longing for the rest of Ventus’s Heart and feeling what Ventus felt being bolstered as a result with Vanitas’s self loathing empowering the Sin enough to escape Vanitas’s Body as Unversed!
Heartless usually tear out of Hearts violently though if Dark Road is to be believed they originally just leapt out of Hearts normally as soon as they gorged on enough Sin.
As time went on the Heartless became more and more part of ordinary Hearts resulting first in Heartless exploding out of Hearts resulting in the creation of Nobodies and eventually as they got more properly blended with normal Hearts created Anti-Aqua and Dark Riku(who was one generation after Aqua)!
Sora of course bonded with Ven’s Heart and thus was at first in Xehanort’s Generation! Xehanort’s Generation of Heartless are more intelligent than normal so Sora’s Heartless was able to seek Kairi whose presence restored Sora’s Heart shaping the Heartless into a physical form.
When the Heartless and Heart were both shoved into Sora’s Body he gained the ability to tap into Ventus, Xion and Roxas’s Hearts gifting him with Valor Form, Wisdom Form, Master Form and Final Form. Him tapping into their power of course came with the chance of tapping into the Heartless’s power which resulted in an aberration that couldn’t wield the Keyblade taking over.
When Sora later on entered the Realm of Sleep and bonded with Spirits his Darkness stabilized resulting in the Dark Form where he retained his Human Form.
Unfortunately he dived very deeply into the Realm of Sleep within causing Sin to gain ground! When he returned to the waking World his Formchanges and Rage allowed him to tap into the Sin inside him manifesting as the Keyblade wielding Rage Form that’s a hybrid between Unversed and Heartless!
Nomura outright states in Interviews that Rage Form is tied to Rage not Darkness!
Xehanort when removing Sora’s Light leaves Sora with Sin and Darkness. Sin is the stronger force inside him so he becomes a twisted hybrid between a Unversed and a Heartless instead of taking Dark Form!

Hmm, well the Draenei live a very long time. Velen himself is just over twenty-five thousand years old. Though with all the time-travel shenanigans, you could well be right.

I just spent the last hour putting together a cat tower for Cottonball, and he helped me every step along the way. I found a really tall one, with lots of platforms, three lounge areas, and two hide-holes. Plus three attached toys, and an extra mouse of a stick for him to play with.
He hasn’t left it since I finished it!
