The thing that stresses me out the most is I feel like there are a million things to do with marketing and no payout.
You scream and scream into a void and it dosn’t seem to go anywhere, and there is always something more you can do. It is never ending stress as you know that you do it to little you are not doing enough to get yourself out there, do it to much and you drive yourself crazy.

“When you are your own product, you have to sell yourself, promote yourself, and make yourself seen. The more you put yourself out there, the more you will sell. It all depends on how much, and how fast, you want to move. The faster you want to move, the more you must put yourself out there. That is just how business works.”
You’re selling yourself. Perhaps I’m just ‘old school’ and I don’t get the funny ‘interwhatchamacallits’ like you whippersnappers
But ask yourself this:
Would you really feel good about buying a car online without first being able to meet the salesperson in, well, person? Or even being able to test drive the car?
It’s about marketing yourself and your business…which, in this case, is you. It’s about building those personal relationships as a business owner and operator that pays a long term dividend.
And you don’t find that same kind of connection strictly online.

I will be incorprting geting on camra and streaming myself and my writting in the future so being online won’t be totaly disconected from people, I attualy feel like it will be better. I can do online book sigings (If I can figure out how people do it) Writting streams and more.
My intrnet is just holding me back from a lot of things atm.

As long as you have a plan that suits you. Sorry if I came on too strong. As I was telling Surfy, while long term, it had its benefits, I absolutely want you to succeed where I failed.
Just know I have a lot of faith in you and see a metric ton of promise in your future, Mer

Thanks. I am modling my business off of content creaters as well I want to mix gaming and writting (I will be doing gaming stuff along side writting when I attualy get good intrnet).
I bought an Alice outfit for my streams as well. Wonderland is part of my buinsess and I thought it would be a good thing to dress up as on camra.
Still my inrnet like I said is holding me back but that isn’t in my control. If we had Starlink or any other good connection I would be doing writer streams, game streams, figuring out how to sign autographs online (or do my other idea where I buy a copy and mail it out to people) Point is I have ideas for getting infront of a camra and expanding myself further but I just can’t yet because people won’t send my family a good satalite yet!

But I have also noticed everyone I watch has been doing what they do for 5+ years so I have a lot to suffer through still.

I also wanted to say that I am not saying I won’t do in person marketing, I am just more leaning to do online side of things. I just feel like it will benefit me in the long run so I can reach a wide audience. It is also where I feel at home so it is just easier for me

And hey, whenever you feel doubtful, I want you to know this because it is immensely important:
Watching you start your own journey, talking with Surfy…I’d be lying if I wasn’t feeling the itch myself after nearly five years after my own self-pubbed novel. So much so, full story lines are blowing through my head including an opening line I’d composed over 30 years ago in High School.
So bad is that itch, and coupled with my own idea for a youtube/twitch channel, I can only say there is one appropriate song for it…
So, whenever you may feel doubtful, know this: You’ve deeply inspired me to chase the written word again!

A trick that works for me to beat writers block is to have a side project that is 100% unrelated to your current project and entirely not in your regular style.
That’s actually where my novel came from; it was a side project that just took off as soon as I wrote the lines:
“My name is Sam, Sam Frome. Depending on who you ask, I’m either a private dick or just a dick, according to my ex-wife.”

“Tried that. I have been writing since I was 13. That is when I started my first full length story. I now have 7 unfinished stories. I have writer’s block on ALL of them.”

Why do you think I play games so often and want to work gaming into my work life?

Start a new one! Either complete it or go 8 for 8! No shame in that. I also like watching mobies and reading books in genres or around topics I’m writing…many times out of genre/topic.
You just never know when the right thing is gonna clobber you upside the head and won’t stop giving you mental wedgies until you complete it!

And for those who don’t know or, maybe want to check it out:
Look up Habeas Corpseus on Amazon. Yep. That’s my baby!
This is very cool. It has to be a kick seeing that page and seeing reviews of something you wrote.

Thinking of Red Riding Hood:
The only way the Wolf was going to trick Red Riding Hood would be if Red Riding Hood never met her Grandmother or anyone except her Parents(not hard to imagine in Medieval Times).
Even so the Big Bad Wolf managing to convince Red Riding Hood to burn her clothes should be ludicrous in the Medieval Era as it’s the only clothes that Red Riding Hood has got!
