Thank you for the kind words. To me success is being able to live financially off my work. I know I am doing very where for where I am but again I just can’t see how I get from here to being able to live off writing alone. It is hard.

I could never really tell with the big names how they got going.

It felt like Tom Clancy had one book that was a lucky break.

Louis L’amour felt like he was just putting out so much he had to make a tidy penny.

Oh I know what you mean, but I also mean what I mean  And yes, it is most definitely hard. This is why you’re pushing forward and speaking with a true voice.

I don’t know if you’re on TWIT-ter, but if not, it may be worth considering if the annual PITMAD event still happens.

It’s basically a free for all anyone can pitch and it’s visible mostly to publishing houses and agents.

I do a lot of promoting on twitter. As for publishing houses I decided not to go with them. Compared to self publishing it just dosn’t seem in my best intrests.

They no longer do marketing for you, they keep more of your profits compared to self publishing and put you on deadlines. And like you said you need an agent just to get your foot in the door with them.

The good thing about them is they have in house editors but that is the one positive I have found in my research.

…are you my “alt”?:rofl::rofl: I joke but that does sound like what I was saying years ago…almost to the word.

One thing you might want to check into are local indie bookstores for signingd, selling your books, etc.

(Maybe the signing thing may not be too plausible because of covid, but definitely worth checking into, imo).

I want to look into virtial book signing as I think I saw another author on Patreon do that.

As it is when I get better intrent I have writting and gameing steams planned so I have more I want to do, it is just I am tech blocked lol.

Clancy had quite a few books in the Jack Ryan Series . I believe The Hunt for Red October was the 2nd or 3rd .

I know at least 5 of his books have been made into movies .

Hunt for Red October

Patriot Games

Clear and Present Danger

Sum of All Fears

Without Remorse .

The last on just coming out this year staring Michael B. Jordan .

That’s true! I actually had news at work I didn’t really want. I feel kinda shoehorned into something I really didn’t want to do, but I know growth wise its the right choice.

So the question is do I just take it anyway and suffer it for 6 months in order to make a huge leap forward or do I pass it because of that.

The receiver at work needs someone to be his relief when he is out, I really really really did not want it. But there is literally no one else at work that can do it that he trusts. The other half to that coin is if I do it for 6 months I have enough experience with everything else to become an assistant store director at work, so is it worth it?

I’m not entirely sure.

“I’d say it sounds worth it to me. The fact that he trust YOU with this job says a lot about you.”
