If your laptop can handle it and you have the budget, you really should consider updating to Windows 10. It is a lot more secure, especially since Microsoft is no longer updating Windows 7 security. With a bit of tweaking, Windows 10 can be made to look a lot like Windows 7 so the interface doesn’t present a wall of unfamiliarity.
Just a serving suggestion from a retired I.T. nerd. If nothing else, be sure your security software is updated on a regular basis.
laptop is over 10 years old, and it would make more sense to buy a new one with new windows, than to buy updated windows for an ancient laptop.
money isn’t really an issue, i don’t mind spending money when it’s an investment for something i’ll use every day.
i only use it to watch youtube, and i run uBlock, so security isn’t a massive concern. (ads are the only place it would catch anything nasty)
i manage my life from my desktop pc.
I did get far enough to see that many of the elite quests that I thought were still elite are now normal/soloable quests. It makes me happy that I can solo almost all of Duskwood in TBC expect for that mean undead Moridian that wanders the graveyard.
A certain mean necromancer is going to go down.
Edit: I am going to see my Aunt this week for the first in in over a year. It is partly to just see her and partly just to hug her after coming out that I am transitioning to being a woman. I am a bit nervous but talking with my cousin last week they are very accepting, more then I knew.
They were there for a friend of another one of my cousins when their family almost abandoned them for being LGBT themselves.
