GCD 1 second cap not present on BCC

On 2.4 patch notes https://www.wowhead.com/patchnotes=2.4.0
“Spell Haste: Spell haste now reduces the global cooldown on spells, down to a minimum of 1 second. This change does not apply to melee and ranged abilities.”

Currently on BCC live, casters are able to stack cooldowns and have GCDs below the intended 1s cap like stated on patch notes. is this intentional and faithful to original TBC or a bug only happening on BCC?

yeah I noticed this also but was not exactly sure if that was authentic or not, so was still doing a bit of reading there, and cant find anything, but did not see that detail in the patch notes.

The GCD cap present now is 0.75: same as retail and was only made that low durin on legion expansion
Its not authentic to TBC

Definitely a bug. Watched a video this morning of a mage spamming AE with IV and MQG up and counted the casts over time and saw it was >1 sec/GCD. It’s good to see that other people are seeing this because currently it makes mage very imbalanced to play against. No other class is able to get themselves to this level of haste and given the prevalence + undispellable nature (and 20 second duration) of MQG this bug is giving a very-much unrepresentative level of power in TBC. It’s particularly punishing for priests as an entire poly cast can occur within my GCD…

Yeah, its actually making mages competitive with warlocks and hunters, and we cant have that now can we

Dirty green snitcher worried about losing to chad arcane mages in T5! (/sarcasm)

Somebody lost in arena to a mage. Get good

It affects everyone, rogue and feral have 1 second base GCD so with any spell haste they instantly go below cap. Shaman totems too. With just Bloodlust and a Quamirran’s/Infinite Cycle proc every 1.5 sec and instant cast is also affected.

rogue and feral are resource capped.

bump for hope for an actual fix ruining arenas

This actually makes me wonder about a cancel attack macro / start attack macro to re-set auto swing with sub 1 sec auto on slow weapons for leet DPS… hmmm

nope. /10ch

Ah ok, I was just thinking out loud, er in text but yeah I see what you’re up too there.

bump for fix. Blizzard please reply to why you havent fixed this yet.

blizzard… hello? you just let an entire season of mages doing 25% more damage and their frost nova is still broken on top of that.

Greetings,

Can someone please inform me about this topic on Global Cooldown cap?

I am curious about the GCD cap. I was informed that; rogues, feral druids and monk, all have a 1 second GCD base, while other classes have a 1.5 second base.

Is this true?

Also, if it takes a ‘1.5 second GCD base player’ 100% haste, to reach a .75 GCD. Does it also take a; Rogue, Feral, and Monk, 100% haste to reach the .75 GCD?..

Meaning the rogue wont notice a benefit from haste rating until at least a 51% haste?

Also please tell me, how much haste rating is necessary for a Rogue, Feral or Monk who build haste to reach the GCD cap? I guess… say you get some on every item, and then get haste trinket, and receive haste buff? I figure thats the most. Maybe then 100% haste is possible?

It sounds like you’re talking about retail, these are the Classic forums.

But to answer your question, the amount of haste to reach 0.75 cap from 1 second base would be 1 / 0.75 - 1 = 33.33% haste, which would be obtainable with just Bloodlust and 1-2 pieces of gear with Haste on them.

However, I see on wowpedia that:

Haste doesn’t affect GCD of agility energy melee classes

Which would imply that a hard cap is not something you ever need to worry about as those classes, and your GCD will always be 1 second. You’d need to ask in a retail forum or check in-game yourself as to whether this is still true.
