Ahh yes. I am enjoying the silly questing. Like the hot springs quests in Valdrakken. The cute dog. Or the salt springs. Its all enjoyable and cute. Or the yeti quest.
Iām not opposed to the occasional quest involving such behavior. In the Shadowlands and now Dragonflight it does seem to be a far out of proportion number of LBGTQ couples. Iām nearly through Ohnāahran Plains and so far only 4 couples portrayed. Of which 3 were LBGTQ.
Oh no so many.
It is like there are no straight couples at all anywhere now!! They were all deleted and gone from the entire world!!!
Yeah usually I donāt care for it and its some quests, but this time⦠I DID notice only because there are soooo many! lol
I love the inclusivity and WoW is long overdue to have more diversity in itās storytelling. I will say, the abundance of it in DF definitely feels like Blizzard saying āHOW DO YOU DO FELLOW GAYS?ā Steve Buscemi style, like someoneās embarrassingly accepting dad saying he thinks Brad Pitt is handsome or something. I think theyāre trying to make up for lost opportunities, and itās nice to see it.
I also really love the Boss Lady Khan who is deaf. The flavor text when you speak to her Bakar is adorable.
75% is more than a bit skewed in one direction. Instead of feeling natural it feels forced. More like Blizzard is saying āSee see weāre inclusive⦠now.ā
Yet in life, yes its still everywhere but unless the couple is obtuse. You likely never even notice.
Yes though i enjoyed seeing a deaf Chieftain. Especially when in a society where weakness is generally looked down upon. Basically tells me sheās a bad mofo.
Perhaps a questline where the poster gets to do a Matthew Shepard?
If you think about it on all of azeroth/draenor/shadowlands. It isnāt much in comparison. Anyways its much appreciated.
One of the most telling things about Neanderthal skeletons were the number of those found who had had longstanding injuries. Which meant that there were those who survived only because they were taken care of.
I like how everyone in the village knew how to talk to her. Itās like she was that important that everyone learned to talk to her. I am curious of her situation grew up and how that happened. Her backstory is definitely interesting.
I know, imagine if it was like⦠100% skewed for fourteen years!!! And these three relationships, plus the whole two in Shadowlands, they have made it all of 98% skewed overall, across the game.
It is basically straight erasure at this point. 2% global is unacceptable.
Iām hearing aids toting hard of hearing and I shook my head at the deaf chieftain.
To be fair the deaf chieften might have some amazing qualities we just donāt know about. A direct link to the elements, a spear arm like a balista, the ability to transform into a gigantic firbreathing magnataur. Maybe she had to take a vow of silence because of a curse/prophecy. Maybe she is just wise. In some socieites disabilty/deformity could be seen as a sign of a blessing from gods/spirits/faeries. Iām hoping for something in that direction anyway, not just a deaf chieften for fun.
I am like 99% sure that Sansok Khan was inspired by Amaya from the Dragon Prince.
Not all tribal societies go pure Klingon in philosophy. An elder who provides needed guidance is considered pulling their weight. And as Iāve related earlier even Neanderthal cavemen have been shown supporting tribal members who had long standing crippling injuries.
A cripple is still unlikely to hold the position of chieften without being able to demonstrate the ability to lead in one shape or form.
I think the implication is that she is a great hunter simply by being the chieftain of the hunting based clan. They donāt give off the vibe of selecting leaders based on anything aside merit.
Also, minor point but why is her interpreter always standing beside her like a trailing servant. He should be standing between parties so she can actually see him signing whatever the other party says without having to turn her entire body away from them.
Itās all pretty much this;
And hey I get it. International markets and all. But itās just amusing how obvious it is. Like with the Centaur you help with two marriage proposals, one straight and one gay.
And wouldnāt you know it only the straight couple gets a wedding ceremony. Almost like itās so they can edit the quest dialogue of the gay one for other markets.
I did get a sense of this. All the queer content is constructed in a way thats relatively easy to edit or shunt to the side (like Shaw and Flynn). More meaningful representation would be having one of the main, big name characters in a queer relationship in a way that canāt be hidden and Blizzard has to stick to their guns with. Thrall/Aggra, Arthas/Jaina, etc type deal.
I appreciate the representation thats there but the way its presented is awfully convenient.
Itās deliberate, they throw the non-cis population a couple of bones to show how ārepresentative and inclusiveā they are, but make darn sure that theyāre kept in a secondary status to keep the Christian moms at bay.
