It really makes the game feel alive again, everything from fall damage and elevators to crafting your own gear, on top of the sadness u get when u see other players die while levelling as u go on

Honestly HC has stolen my heart.
Some people don’t really like all the rules but the rules are what does it for me personally for precisely the reasons you’ve listed.
It’s feels like im playing back in 05 where everything can be dangerous and everything matters.
Im doing zones and quests I’ve always skipped and it’s like a breath of fresh air.

The game feels alive if you play as the devs intended. The quests encourage you to explore the world. Dungeon and group quests encourage the more social aspects…
WoW was actually a well-deserved and fun game. It’s too bad the metasheep trashed it with their guides and lists for everything.

Yeah, HC is an interesting idea. But it’s not the addon, or even the challenge itself that appealed to me, or I think even most people - but rather Classic era being populated again.
I think a lot of people are just really hungry for Classic era in the midst of a Wrath content drought and DF not really living up to many expectations. HC is the only current spark in the Era version of the game, so that’s where people are going.
I presume quite a few current HC players would be just as happy playing Softcore as long as it was as populated with people and communities as HC currently is.

Why is it people always use the low level zones a reason a game is busy. If you see 50 in ratchet but the rest of the game is dead Is it really a great return of players lol

I don’t get it. Its one extreme or another like Era is an ESport or something.
They’ll cookie cutter min/max parse speed run premade 12 hours a day for months + buy tons of bot currency, play by a HC ruleset, mafia bracket etc etc but if you suggest running MC with 39 other fresh 60s not full BiS and optional WBs and “meme specs” they think you’re crazy.

This is a good point, though. These servers are packed 10-20, sure. They’re pretty sparsely populated 20-40 and pretty much dead 40-60, with a few pockets of GDKPs being run at the endgame. It’s hard to even find dungeon groups for like pe-raid gearing and the BGs are full of Naxx gear one-shotting.

Never before have I ever cared about fishing and cooking. Now it’s my lifeblood. You get to utilize all these systems you never cared about. They matter so much and are very rewarding in HC. Entirely new game.

HC is a meme. However I do want blizz to make 1 HC server so there is a blizzard-supported place for all HC to go. I don’t want to deal with HC if I choose to roll on a PvE server.

I gave up on Hardcore and made new classic characters on one of the medium population realms. It’s so much nicer to see a smattering of new characters instead of swarms of them like on hardcore.
