Gauging improvement as auggie

for most dps classes, you can use damage meters as one gauge of how you and your gear are improving.

how do you do that for augmentation, since much/most of what you do buffs other players’ performance?

I look at buff uptimes on other players during boss encounters. I can see higher uptimes, and maybe a bit more damage on my end.

I am someone who mostly plays m+ to 2k and LFR/normal raids.

thoughts?

Details is already calculating the Augmented DMG you provide.
If it is not visible on your end there is an option in the settings of details

Details gives you a “vibe”. Not even a number really.

Unless it has changed recently, I thought that extra option in details was basically inaccurate and useless and more of a “feel good” option.

It just added a flat damage increase across the board and wasn’t actually based off of anything you were doing at all.

I know logs is fairly accurate, but that’s about it.

hmmm…i am not logging mythic runs.

I like the idea and playstyle of a support class quite a bit. some heals here, damage boosts for others there, doing my own decent damage.

but then I end up wondering if I can do that on other classes anyway. balance druid gives a flat buff with mark of the wild. disc priest has power infusion (although I guess that has been changed) and does good damage on its own.

I kind of wish shaman had the totem kits they used to have with bonuses to crit, spell power, armor, healing, mana return, etc…

So long as, We timed the Key…killed the Boss…and I didnt die by my action or inaction…I consider it a win in my book. I judge doing better more as when you hit a bump and overcome it.

Meters…can be deceiving.

I’m gonna add something i should have put into my first post.

Your contribution as Aug is noticeable when you’ve done a lot of keys with the same people (and you haven’t been aug in all of them). Things get sped along. Mistakes made no longer have as harsh of consequences, 15 deaths no longer means you won’t time that 20.

Buf if your with randos all the time i can see it being difficult to feel out.

Even so, if you can keep your ebon might up through the majority of just about every pull and boss fight, you’re doing great! Using your other utility to help keep the group alive? Even better! The rest is on your other party members, which is the beauty of a spec with little personal responsibility.

Things only suck when one of the DPS dies, or heaven forbid, you’re the last dps alive.

I’ve healed a lot of keys this season and it’s always noticeable when there is an Aug vs. when there isn’t.

And once, in a glorious moment this season. I was able to dps as Dev while there was another aug, and they took the threat reduction ability just for me. I never blew up a trash pack so fast. It was beautiful. Volatility was proccing everywhere and for a sweet moment i understood the true meaning of devastation.

i appreciate this take on it.

yeah, puglife is my life lol

im still trying to line up my cooldowns, etc. mostly trying too focus up time on big pulls (for low keys admittedly) bosses.

I got two tanks to 2k and one healer to 2k this season. I like to mix things up, so not sure yet if I will run FOTM auggie or not.

appreciate everyone’s feedback
