Gathermate2 not sharing BFA Data?

I posted this same question over in the professions forum and it was suggested I might have better luck asking here :).

I’m gathering in BFA zones and I installed gathermate2 AND gathermate2 data and did the data import but I’m not seeing any BFA data on map(though old kingdoms do show data). I did notice that as I harvest a node, a new green circle appears on mini map.

is this because BFA harvest data isn’t being shared yet?

Looks like the most recent version of _Data is from July so before the xpac, so that’s why there’s no data.

:expressionless: What is happening to all the data people are collecting… Right? Doesn’t the addon collect each users data and send it somewhere? what’s happening to it?

It is my understanding that the idea/spirit of these addons is that as a community we are all sharing each others data, but that doesn’t seem to be happening, or am I missing something?

The data is being shared. GM2 doesn’t recognize the map information and can’t store it.

not following this. you mean GM2 is collecting data but doesn’t have a solution to show the data on the BFA map yet to the general user base?

That’s not how it works. _Data is a collection of data pulled from wowhead. Just like RaiderIO it requires the addon authors to push data set updates to the addon to distribute them.

Looks like you can import from this addon instead (you still need _Data installed)

Yes.

Imagine that you have a map of the current United States and you’re driving across country and you’re making note of really good restaurants.

You drive into the State of Sonora, because the US and Mexico decided to join together as the Greater United States of America the previous year.

You find this amazing diner, get on your CB radio, and broadcast to everyone that on the Sonora map, section 5A, there are great omelets if you can get there before they stop serving breakfast.

All of the information you sent is perfectly valid.

But if no one has a map that includes Sonora in it, it’s useless.
