Gathering weekly knowledge points

can these be adjusted so that half of them comes from turning in mats you gathered instead of just all everyone has to farm and farm even when the mats are worthless.

Right now for herbing you have to gather until you get 5/6 items each week to get full credit for knowledge points - change that so you gather to get 3 points from the actual gathering and 3 points from a quest turnin so some of these commons items are taken out of the system. Say a quest for 50 hochenblume (that you actually gather).

By the end of the expansion the way you have things set up there will be so so many mats in the system they will never disappear out of it.

I’m sort of the opposite, I’ve become so keyed in on those skill points for motivation that I end up gathering on alts to make sure I get the mats I need for the week.

I wouldn’t be gathering at all on mine - lucky for the market I am just filling up my bank right now I guess. But given the price and the amount of herbs and skins and ore on the auction house a lot of people are just dumping the extra.

When mats sell for less than a gold each, I am really doubtful is it worth farming them over purchasing them.

Right now serevite ore sells for 98s-1g each one or two star and 900k on ah

Resilient leather sells for 19-27s and there is 4.8 million on ah - leather is extremely bad because it takes so long to get all the items and you get so much common from each kill.

Hochenblume sells for 47s for 2 star and 524k on ah

For ore, eventually it becomes all about
the khaz’gorite for me. I never have enough of the stuff.

Well … and elements. I’m still bottlenecked by elements.

I really just need to be doing more gathering in general.

Knowledge points probably helped ruin the economy. You got gathering/crafting FOMO now so all these people login in to make crap, sell it, then log out.

FOMO tanking the economy. Love it.

yeah it is just the common stuff I think that needs to get taken out of the market. I get plenty of elementals way before I ever get all my knowledge points because i have 2 herbalists, 4 miners and 3 skinners.

I just prospect my surplus ore (or toss them over to my alts to level a bit with). As far as I can remember I haven’t posted any mats on the auction house in DF.

We should get more knowledge points for weekly. 3 is not enough and eggs are hard to find.

You know you can just buy those mats from the AH for the quest, right? That’s what I do. I’ve never done the weekly actually picking plants.

you get more than 3 for the weeklies - you have 3 weeklies for each crafting profession (alchemy and enchanting aside).

Do you have any gathering professions because I don’t think you understand what I am talking about.

This is skinning - I already finished all mine for the week but at the start of the week it says 6. If you skin enough, you get the full skill items and you get 7 knowledge points from that. That is the area I would like to see adjustment so that half of those points come from a quest to dump common mats.

You misspelled “buyer’s market”.

Sounds like alchemists are in bad luck then. They need more!

I don’t pay attention to my alchemist but you do have 2 weeklies that will give you 6 in total plus 2 you can get from looting packs/dirt plus the ones you get from mob kills.

I would imagine the tree doesn’t take as many points to max out though and maybe that is why the difference.

Oh I see, yes, you’re talking about the skill ups you get out in the world, not just the ones required to do the weekly quest.

Those are in line with the ones you get from killing mobs, Expedition Packs, and the Dirt Piles.

I commented on the weekly quest one being purchasable from the AH because for the first few weeks, I was never able to actually complete the quests, then I learned that detail, and I just grab the quest, hit the AH, and then turn it in now.

yes, I want them to split the ones you get in the world into two parts - half a common mat resource dump that you need to actually gather but you have a way to get rid of it instead of putting it all on the ah for silver.

Most of those city quests for mats involved the more valuable mats not just common mats.

There’s a catch up mechanism in place; if you don’t hit the weekly maximum it carries over into following weeks. I came back after a two week mid-season break a little more than a month ago and I got a ton of knowledge very quickly.

I haven’t experienced that and I am starting new characters in there a lot. The first few knowledge points each week are pretty easy to get.

Yea I ran into something the other week. Talked to a guy and he gave me, like, 5 points out of the blue. That was for tailoring, haven’t seen one for Herbs.

was it this one? although pretty hard to run into this one by accident since it is half way up a tower.

No, just one of the NPC near all of the other crafting/tailoring quest givers.

I didn’t get any catchup like thing this week, and I’m pretty sure I didn’t get hardly any skill points last week (I know I skipped the tailoring weekly, the crafting order weekly, and the lizard by the tailor workbench weekly).
