I know that specialization points are locked out at some point for the week, because after herbing/mining so many, I just don’t get any points to use anymore. Does anyone know how many there are available for the week?
Also I just started my alt this week, is he locked out as well, or is there a catchup where you get all the rest of the spec points from the initial expansion date of release?
On the first page “Journal” of your Mining and Herb books, scroll down to Appendix I - Boundless Knowledge. This lists two items you can find while gathering, one of which gives you 3 points and one of which gives you 1 point. At first you can only get the 1 point one and after you have found some number of them (6 I think?) you will get the 3 point one next time, and then you are done for the week.
On the right hand panel at the bottom of the description is a short sentence telling you if you have any left to collect.
You can get six (5 for 1 point and 1 for 3 points) from each profession just for gathering.
If you only herb/mine the elemental deposits you can theoretically get more, but it seems like you can get about five of those pretty quickly and then diminishing returns sets in.
You can also get some from collecting disturbed dirt piles, although those seem to be more crafting than gathering oriented, and random kills seem to drop skill point items up to four before diminishing returns.
And three points for the weekly quest in Valdrakken.
All told, you can get 16 points pretty easily each week. There’s another 4-5 points that may be easy depending on what else you do. Then it turns into a huge slog that is probably not worth additional time.
