Considering the amazing items you will get from crafting professions - its probably now pointless to not have a double crafting profession.
I remember in wotlk some spells were added to gathering professions, to make these equal in power. Will this be added?

Well you can’t really craft of someone isn’t gathering.
That being said I went Double Craft on Main and Double Gather on an alt

It would be kinda nice to get those WoTLK features for gathering professions added to SoD in some form.

I know but it basically will make people just level gathering alts to supply that. in your mains, most people will pick crafting.
It’s a bad system. You shouldn’t feel punished for wanting to gather on your PVP character.

im still sticking to herb/alch gear they can make from crafting is nice and all but i have a feeling come lvl 60 with raid tiers and all that we will see major tweaks with the tier sets.

Gathering professions make money if you are not using them for crafting. Crafting professions cost money if you aren’t farming all of the materials yourself. Personally, I don’t see any reason to make them equal in power.
I view gathering professions as the choice if all I want to do with professions is make gold. Crafting professions are for making my character stronger, which justifies the time and gold investment of leveling them.
If gathering professions gave the same kind of power boost, no one would need to craft and which would eliminate the need for gathering.

Think about it. You need Engineering, you need LW on Shaman. Not many solo farm options is there? So you gather and eng. But now you’re expected to get money doing what?
No one is punishing you for gathering on your PVP character. You can either sell those materials you gathered for gold or use them to get an even bigger boost on a double crafting character. Either way, you are being adequately rewarded for your time spent gathering.
Gathering professions were invalidated by bots. They should be decent good generators but they are not.

I’m hard coping that the regional currency changes plus changes to GDKP clamp down on bot activity.
It’s really sad there’s so few ways to make gold. Basically just selling services if various varieties to other players which ultimately come from black market gold. Or burning 1-time quests and causing problems for yourself later.
Stop pretending like I’m not being locked out of BIS for taking a gathering profession.
Um, these are your choices lol.
Figure it out. You dont need to have both of those you want them. Good for you, i think its a commendable challenge with some powerful rewards once you pull it off.
But yeah, nothing needs to change.

Personally I shall continue to farm and sell herbs for absurd amounts of money. Can’t wait for that sweet SM herb farm.
Same but I don’t think banning GDKP is gonna do anything. Retail is INFESTED with bots and GDKPs aren’t a thing there.
It costs these people nothing to get accounts botting en masse and blizzard bans too slow. It’s a literal free money printer.
Previously you went engineering because it had lots of value. You were free to take whatever you wanted beyond that. Now you’re compromising on BIS by not taking Tailoring/LW/BS and the necessity of engineering hasn’t gone away. Now you’re forced into double crafter. The situation is very obviously different.
That’s way too time consuming… For instance, as with tailoring… the boots… you need linen, thread and leather… but you’re a tailor… so instead of the AH (which should be removed) you can head over to the leather vendor and buy like 2-3 samples of leather needed to craft these boots. I’ve always pushed for something like this and I think it’s in Diablo where as if you find items and sell to the vendor, someone comes along (in time) and can by those items you sold to the vendor.
Sir, you are not forced into doing anything. All of these are your own choices.
You dont have to do both, you can and its possible with some extra steps, but these are the choices.

I’m not. I’m pointing out that you are gaining somewhere else (either by selling your farmed mats or by using them to craft on another character) by choosing to double up on your gathering professions.
Limiting characters to 2 professions creates a trade off. You either go double gathering to make gold and/or support your other toons, choose a gathering profession and a crafting profession so you can support your own crafting and gain the benefits from that, or double up on crafting to get twice the benefits while requiring an alt to support you with double gathering.
You want to have all of the benefits of double gathering without suffering any cost and that’s not how choices work in this game.
