Fellow gatherers, my curiosity is piqued. Tell me …
Which gathering professions get you going?
Where do you like to gather most?
And are you gathering for your crafter(s), to sell on AH, or both?
My skinning alt is my favorite gatherer of all time. If you see a shadow priest murdering and skinning everything in sight around Dornogal …
Nearly everything I get from skinning is for AH resale. Mmmmm, gold.

I always do ore, fishing, and herbs, always to sell on AH, and I will usually just gather from whichever zone I am endeavoring in, but I will make a special trip if I notice a very high price on a specific material, usually marrowroot, lol.

I mine when waiting for someone to click their portal to meadery or priory.

While I’m not proud to admit to buying an occasional token, the unfortunate reality of limited time while adulting is that I can make $20 a lot faster than I can farm 260k gold worth of materials with crafting.
None of my characters are gatherers, they all have double crafting, with one of the two usually being either alchemy, enchanting, or engineering depending on what fits them thematically.
Fishing is a relaxing activity that I enjoy from time to time.
Skinning is something I picked up because I was always and forever running into skinnable mobs that were in my way. A skinning knife turned an annoyance into a small but consistent revenue stream.

Oh, right? I herb on this toon for hours sometimes.

I did mine/herb at the beginning of the expansion when you could make 100k an hour, but now it’s closer to 10k so I’d rather just buy the mats.
I’d like to get into skinning, but don’t you need a fairly geared toon to make decent gold with it? I just feel like skinning would be better on a main than an alt and I have no desire to gear a second character.

I like mining and herbing.
Back in Cata, I mined Uldum a LOT for pyrium to make the Sandstone Drake (among other things). It never got old. I sometimes still find myself back there mining, and it’s always fun and relaxing.

Oh nah. My shadow priest is barely geared, and she blows through 5-6 shalehorns easily. If my clothy can kill and skin quickly, I think almost anyone can.

I double gather but prefer mining. I mostly do it in Isle of Dorn / Khaz purely for aesthetics. I have kept up a sub for months purely on tokens but now that I’m about to be employed Blizzard will get a sub fee from me more often than token.

Fishing is an A+ relaxing profession. Also thev best achievements, imo.
I having mining, herbing and skinning that i run. I have engineering/inscription/leatherworking on a few alts.
For skinning I usually hang out around Cinderbrew and skin the wolves and the bees. I usually do it for an hour or so and get a decent amount of mats.
With mining and herbing, I usually just kind of tune out and fly around. I don’t really have a set path, I just kind of skirt around the edge of each zones map and then head off to the next one.

95% of my characters do mining and skinng, 4% do herbing and 1% do engineering so they can ride all the engineering mounts. That’s about it.
I have no interest in making things, which in my opinion isn’t overly useful. I do wish there were more fun toys, pets, mounts, mogs etc you could make every expansion, but seems to be an afterthought overall. /shrug

wherever wow-professions. com tells me to.

I’ve always gathered for my own use, and as such I have a stockpile of so many things. Mining is relaxing, over the years I’ve spent many hours just flying from node to node. This expansion, ringing depths is my favorite gathering zone.

Fishing is my favorite gathering profession, and always will be most likely.
It’s the most ‘arcade game-y’ out of all of the profs, imho.
You just throw out your bobber, and click when it’s ready, but don’t miss!

I am mining/blacksmithing.
I will rarely sell my mats unless I have a massive excess. I do craft orders whenever I can for extra specialization point, but once that’s done, I will probably sell off my excess.
If I’m running around doing older content, I will usually try to hit what I see there too. Old mats get shipped off to the warband bank to help fill in old crafting xmogs I don’t have. And since they said that old crafting is going to be useful for player housing, I’ve been holding onto just about everything.
Fishing also, but I’m sick of it now. I maxed out my threads so I’m just doing the weekly now for currency.

I’ve spent quite a bit of time mining or herbing on various classes while I’m in queue for blitz these past two seasons - typically in dorne.
You can double your grind by killing the rares and capturing wm crates - I recently got the alunira mount after about a month of casually killing the rares in wm in between queues. Do reccomend.
