Gatekeeping In Raids

As fun as SoD is, I’m a little disappointed with how complicated it is to simply raid and get gear. Too many hoops to jump through, addons to download, and toxic people to cooperate with imo makes raiding not even worth it. I guess I’ve peaked at reals runs. Why am I barred from content I pay for?

you’re gatekeeping yourself. raiding involves interacting with other people and doing a minimal amount of necessary prep. If you dont want to do this you have two options 1) start your own raids or 2) quit the game and dont pay for something that you dont enjoy.

Given the easy entry it boils down to the following
-Get into MC/BWL real runs. This will get you 8/8 tier very quick.
-Try to hop into ZG runs for off items.

Off raids and WB are good spots.

For Naxx get your 3pc Undead Slaying and after you are geared up from other sources hit up Kara for sanctified.

Ultimately what helps is having an active guild to run stuff with because Pugging is a nightmare.

i have this saying i used to tell people that had some of the same gripes about wow and other mmorpgs.

tiny pockets of goodness.

look for a place that has cool people to play with and stop trying to force other people to bow to your will.

find a place you fit in and things will go alot smoother.

edit to add:

i kinda am annoyed that something that is meant to be a group activity is being derided because it requires a group btw.

If you want lfr go back to retail

Except that’s become:

Full WBs
Full Consumes
Know fights inside and out
Know your rotation inside and out
Have every required addon
Be geared
Parse purple

…anything less than the above and you’re considered ‘a carry’; as in all of the above must be ‘checked off’. :unamused:

like i said.

little pockets of goodness.

there surely are other guilds you can raid with who might not be as successful but still get the content down that you can run with.

you make it seem like every single group is a tryhard group that requires everything and i can assure you there are groups that arent like that.

Wow, that sounds like Retail.

This is one of the many reasons gdkp is the superior loot system

Maybe because me and friends run our own guild but loots been fair especially with them adding extra loot from hard modes again in naxx, but gearing been easy to get the catch up reals make tiers ways to grind out and to get into naxx you just need 8 pieces sanct tbh nothing else and that alone will make you do enough damage with the shoulder tier bonus to do naxx we got 2 fresh 60s in our naxx raid this pass week

World buffs usually are provided cause runecloth IS BEYOND easy to farm, full consumes has always been a thing gold is literally falling into your hands on sod, in my guild we explain every fight and how to do the mechanics in very very simple terms because the game is really easy, we got like half the DPS being mom and pops doing grey and green parses and cleared hard mode 2 naxx without an issue doing hard mode 3 next week

You’re not. This is a troll post. Try making your own groups. No one is forced to invite you or play with you.

Barrier to entry seems a bit difficult, for the endgame of sod, imo. All the things you mentioned. I’m looking forward to retail wow season two war within pvp. As charming as sod can be, retail just delivers on accessibility a bit more. Would be nice if sod could somehow accommodate in a similar fashion; maybe update reals vendor to offer more relevant loot?

I came back a little over a month ago with p4 items, it took me less than a week to change more than half my gear.

He’s right, it’s easy to find groups for MC/BWL that don’t even gear check to the point where you could easily walk right in.

paying for the game does not entitle you to a spot in any pug you want

make your own group, problem solved

Easier said than found. Most players seem to think they’re in Method or Paragon. …even for Dungeon runs.

I show up to have fun, they show up to win a trophy (that doesn’t even exist).

I’m not commenting about it due to the difficulty. I’m commenting on that these are the bare minimums that is now expected of.

My point was to highlight “minimal amount of necessary prep” has expanded drastically from what it use to be, which was “know the fights”, “have dbm/bigwigs”, “have vent/teamspeak” (just tipped off my age ).

because you are paying for an MMO sub…an MMO. Join a guild! Make friends!

If you don’t want to be social, then don’t pay and play an MMO!

You are basically buying a food that you don’t like, and then upset that it tastes bad.

Go play a solo - play focused game…there are so, so many! MMOs will always be more challenging for the solo players
