Gatekeeping Blade of Eternal Darkness to a .26% drop rate in an accelerated seasonal realm while you increase Sul’Thraze drop rate is atrocious. Not even D4 devs are as bad as SoD and they are pretty bad. Even they were able to recognize that uber uniques in a seasonal realm at the drop chance they were at were terrible. This definitely needs an increase.

At 5 runs an hour if you go on drop rate it’s only an 80 hour farm per caster in your raid team. Lol by time they all get it P4 will be here.

Sul’thraze is a required item for Ret due to poor design choices. Without Sul’Thraze and/or ACP we’re essentially a walking NPC in raids. Luckily with it we’re competitive with the lowest of DPS specs.
I don’t think any class NEEDS Eternal Darkness to function.

And without it you’re still above 2 mage specs boomchicken and 2 warlock specs.
All of whom would still be bottom even with the dagger it shouldn’t be this rare it might make us as competitive as the lowest melee DPS.

Incorrect. We would be dead last without it. Frost mage tier. Our dps is 100% reliant on AoW procs.
That doesn’t even guarantee it, you’re lucky to get it in that many runs. The .26% is independent of one another

A drop being rare isn’t gatekeeping. You have as much access to it as everyone else does.

When you have blizzard acknowledging the weapon by changing the stats on it but continues to keep the original drop chance while buffing other items drop chances that are supposed to be rare as well. It is no longer about rarity in this game as it is just purposely keeping it gatekept to a lower than 1% drop chance on a seasonal realm.

thats what it was historically (it was also game bis for mages in speed running guilds, look up some of the world top speed AQ40 runs and you’ll see mages back in 2020 using it in some of the progress speed clears). however in SoD blizzard buffed it with bonus spell damage, and currently it is indeed phase BiS for mages in PvE.

well i just ran the mage sim and switched out BOED for the hubris dagger in sunken temple. Hubris simmed 5 more dps. It is a gold farmer/booster item

Sounds like a sim issue. BOED is bis. 100 damage proc > 11 intellect for dps
