Gate Keeping getting old

The gate keeping in this game is ridiculous. I just want to play the main story line. I don’t care about all these inconsequential “world” quests, that I am asked to repeat over and over again.

This is seriously disgusting guys… But its what is best for net profits.

Keep up the good work.

So what, they should release everything all at once and leave us with a year of nothing to do?

What you dont get is even if I waited a year Id still have to do this over the top rep grind to play the story line.

Get it?

The point is to stop you from consuming the content too fast; much faster than devs can create more of it.

My statement stands. If they took off all the requirements, you’d have to wait a year for more. It takes a hundred times as long to make the content as to play it.

My point is that it doesnt matter if I wait a year for the content. Its locked behind rep that requires a year to get!

Basically just forcing out multiple months of subs to people who dont want to.

Gate keeping. Thanks Activision.

Hey @fryelocked and @blasco what gate keeping happened before Activision took over?

Some people aren’t willing to admit the time gating has gotten worse. “It’s an MMO, you’re supposed to grind stuff” is their go-to response and is exactly why blizzard is taking advantage of them.

Worked in vanilla and tbc.

Did you even play vanilla? Because I remember waiting for new content to be released.

Its not about “new content” being released. Its about content being held behind ridiculous reputation grinds.

In order to enjoy the main story line with out it being chopped into pieces I feel like I need to get exalted with the Honor Bound.

Its breaking up the story and making it less engaging. Its really bad story telling.

That’s a lot of hyperbole. There is no rep that takes a year to grind.

For rep like honor bound, it’s set to simulate the passing of time. The npcs are taking time to plan their next move, which becomes available at the next tier of rep.

It’s not bad storytelling, you’re just looking for instant gratification. Which there’s already enough of in the game.

i used to make fun of people lieing about age then i did for years now i just change subject ASAP :no_mouth:

That’s because endgame loot was so scarce and took so long to progress your character instead of rep grinding you grinding dungeons and mats for even longer, with less cobsistant results.

Thinking back on it, it was horrible. Just like it would be to do now.

Its designed to emulate NPCs coming up with new strategies?

Than why doesnt it use a time system? I could spend a week without playing and the NPC gets no where? That doesnt make any sense at all. Its Time Gating man. stop lying to yourself.

Doesn’t sound like you have ever played any other mmo. Sorry to break this to you but development takes time and believe it or not, they are still working on the story and content for THIS expansion. Sorry you are impatient and need everything unlocked asap at the start for you so you can play 48 hrs straight then have nothing to do the rest of the expansion. Even single players games are now gated as well for DLC packs.

I don’t think mmos are for you. Actually, I don’t think gaming is for you.

people have always played by the patch. This is nothing new. There’s those that didn’t also. If you’re bored, play as little as possible, then you might get that “fire” to play again.

No it’s not. Stop misusing terms you clearly don’t understand. Time gating is not the same as having to earn rep to unlock rewards/story progress.
