I have a lot of alts at varying levels, and quite a few of them are still at the stage of building up their garrisons. I actually don’t mind going back into my garrisons, often just to chill and potter. Does anyone else still go into their garrisons sometimes or is it just me?
I almost never go to mine. The setting (howling ice-desert) and architectural theme (Orc Fortress) are not at all inviting. If I could choose my location and my own race’s architecture, I’d use it far, far more.
I only go there on the one char I have got an AH.
I should be going there more to make hexweave, but I have kinda burned out on the game as of now.
I use It on all my characters for the 4 hour BS Hut bonus.
I skipped most of WoD, (cuz I was living in EU, not because I didn’t like the x-pac), so I still do missions that reward x-mog, plus I have the mount speed, AH, and bank.
I’d get the x-mog guy, but I have the mount - so not point anymore.
I also do naval missions as my oil stock allows.
Honestly, I like to pop into my garrison from time to time. Even though I’ve been playing since vanilla, WoD was the expansion where I really started taking endgame progression seriously. As such, my garrison acts as sort of a physical reminder of all the places I went, things I did, and accomplishments I… accomplished.
Really, if they ever decide to give player housing another go, I really think that whatever they come up with should act as more of a physical achievement page, with statues of the powerful bosses you’ve killed, portraits of important moments, and maybe pedestals for fake versions of rare or important weapons or items you’ve obtained.
Which is also why I think GUILD housing makes more sense than PLAYER housing.
I don’t technically “hang out” there, but still go there every day on my ex-main character to collect hexweave cloth for the bags and occasional sumptous fur + true iron ores to make goblin gliders.
She also has the AH there so that comes in handy.
I also go there on my now-main character just to grind out my Archaeology level.
My ex-main character maxed out Archaeology solely from fragments I got by mining at my garrison, and I plan on doing the same for my now-main character. (Archaeology is the only profession that is not divided into each Xpac after the BfA changes and the DMF profession quest still gives you profession levels past 300.)
I’ve never “liked” hanging out in my garrison, but I do still visit the garrison on many characters regularly.
My main uses the garrison as a quick stop/convenient auction house. I also stop by the garrison for free sprint or invis pots from the level 2 alchemy hut daily quest. Sprint and Invis pots don’t care what level you are and they can be quite handy.
My tailors and engineers still make regular pit stops to trade resources for fur to make bags and gliders. While they don’t sell as well as they used to, the bags still provide some income and any new alts always get a bunch of them.
Many of my alts park in their garrisons. It may not be true housing, but it is the closest thing we have.
My tailors are also still making hexweave bags.
I have a level 106 panda who has never been to Broken Isles so he lives in his Garrison and does little pet battles to level. He refuses to give up weapon mogs and so won’t use fist weapons. It’s one handers or nothing for him.
He’s an odd panda.
for all!
My alliance ones, I always visit, just to collect stuff I missed out. My horde one, never. Even though I love orcs and their homeland, the constant snowing in my face outside irritates me to no end.
I took my garrison hearthstone and deleted it immediately the day Legion dropped and never looked back!
Alliance garrison is nice. Horde, not so much.
I recently returned to WoW and the garrison was where I last spent most of my time, so it’s comfortable and familiar to me. I think I’ll continue to return even when I venture out to the new zones. I have an AH, bank, and transmog, and the garrison hearthstone makes it very convenient. I can change the music and I kind of like the architecture (hey, I guess that’s why I’m Horde).
I still go to them, the tailoring is still quite beneficial, and for the rest, it is a convenient hearth-and-portal if the others are on cd.
Alts that I have leveled since WoD though breeze through those levels fairly quickly. Only bothered to raise the garrison to lvl 3 on one, most of the rest are 1’s and an occasional 2.
I hearth there alot and fly to the portal when my regular hearth is on cooldown
Looks good when all dressed up for Halloween, but other than that, no.
I use mine all the time, at the end of wod I optimized it to be useful after the expansion. Guild bank, personal bank, void storage, auction house, nice selection of music, tailoring Hut for hexweave bags, and decorations for the holidays.
Only use i have for the garrison is either as a teleport to the Draenor area, or, more often, to use the auction house in there (I got the auction robot from the parts for the garrison, so it makes a nice private AH to check without all the toy spam)
I still like it. Nice private place away from the Main hub’s and have almost everything I need right there and a extra hearth.
