Garrison followers not gaining XP from missions.

seeing the same thing, across BFA, Legion, and WOD follower missions where multiple followers are required for the mission. First follower will gain XP, the second and/or third one assigned to the mission will not.

Seeing same. Will test to see if first follower gets xp, which is a good workaround if you only need xp for one.

Having the issue with Legion Class hall champions. Tested a couple of times, and the follower in the first slot is the only one getting XP.
Yeah, I recruited a follower with the Extreme Scavenger trait the other day. I am sending it on same level quests that are successful and getting zero xp.
And I just noticed my extreme scavengers aren’t giving me the bonus resources. The on screen popup said 1000 resources but I only actually received the original 200. How do they manage to botch old content when they’re working on new content? Weird.
Re: extreme scavengers, I’m willing to bet it’s the same bug as the previously listed XP one.
From what I can see testing this it looks like for multi follower missions, only the first displayed follower will count for XP, and for buffs like Extreme Scavenger. The second and in some instances third followers will be ignored. You can test this by a small garrison resource mission that only requires a single follower. If you assign one with a scavenger buff, you’ll get credit for it.
It should also be noted that the order in which you assign followers for multi-follower missions is not exactly the order that the code that calculates rewards will evaluate their impacts with. So if you stick an extreme scavenger as the first follower assigned, but the second and third don’t have the buff, this is not going to guarantee that follower with the scavenger buff will be used to calculate the rewards (or even XP gained.)
This hits me as a simple bug in the code for reward calculation when multiple followers are on a mission.
As for the comment about messing up old content. I’ll bet the same base code is being reused across WOD, Legion, and BFA. Why write the same engine repeatedly for handling this? So they messed something up when attempting to update it for BFA patch 8.3, and that impacted WOD and Legion follower missions as well.

I had one garrison follower get xp for a successful mission today and then others not get xp despite it being successful.
I’m fairly sure I just had the first follower in a 3-man Legion mission get triple exp while the other two got none. It showed +12,000 in the floating text and those missions typically only give 3-4k.
So, uh, definitely front load the guy you care about the most.
For garrison followers, it doesn’t matter which slot I put the follower in, he doesnt get XP.
Weird, I just did four different 3 follower XP missions (across 2 characters) and the new level 90 guy was in the first slot each time, but still gained no XP.
This is what I was referring to when I mentioned simply putting a character in the first slot doesn’t ensure the XP gain or buff gain on things like resources. I noticed that I would put a level 100 blue character that I was still trying to level up first, followed by two fully leveled epic characters. However when the mission was complete, I noted the order had been changed on the reward screen. That blue follower was now listed third after the two epic followers, and received no XP. The reward system, which is what I think is actually broken, is ordering the followers from the highest to the lowest so the one you’re trying to level will most likely always end up third when it’s run through the reward system and not get the reward.
Anyway, push comes to shove the follower reward system is trashed at the moment, and it will be very difficult to fully level up new followers or to actually gain the full rewards from using followers with buffs such as the scavenger.
My guess is Blizzard has bigger bugs to fix, so I think we can expect that system to be broken for some time.
This is the second mission that I have sent my lvl 95 garrison follower on and he is still not getting xp but the missions are successful.
I am also having this issue across all characters, in all expacs with missions and followers. The only way to guarantee your follower gets xp is for them to be on a solo mission. If you place them in missions to two or more other followers they will not get the xp. For resources, you only get one of the bonuses.
I’d also like to point out them when I tried to submit a bug report in game, the bug report also bugged out and wouldn’t let me type in anything.
I just filed a bug report too. It’s happening on any character, any expansion. Blizzard support on Twitter said a bug report is the only way to deal with it? So I’m not sending any out until it’s fixed.
i’ve sent a report too. hopefully it gets fixed soon. there’s still one of the benches in the garrison called a doodad too. the label got messed up a while ago. lol

Only my garrison followers that were on missions by themselves gained xp for successful missions today.
